This summer in New York City there is a progam for high school students at Pace University. It's not a residential program, so I would have to commute there everyday from my home on Long Island. However, my father works in the city and could drive me there and back on his way to and from work. Also, it costs $1000, but I told my parents I would be willing to get a job and pay for as much of it as I could. They still won't let me go!! It's an academic program that teaches filmmaking, and since that's the career path I'm interested in, it would be really good for my future. How do I show them what a great opportunity it is?
By the way, I'm (almost) 15 years old.

It is refreshing to see someone like you wanting to further their education instead of just bumming around during the summer, and taking responsibility to work and pay for the class. The only thing I can think of to help you is, if you get some great answers here show them to your parents and maybe they will realize how important this is to you. Good luck young lady, with your attitude you are going far in your future.

Step up, Dude! Take the initiative! verify the telephone e book and locate some martial arts faculties. maximum colleges that are low-cost have not got web content yet are listed in the telephone e book, call them your self and locate out how lots it expenditures, do not forget approximately to ask approximately any kit you will would desire to purchase and how lots this is going to cost. ATA faculties are often distinctly high priced and MMA faculties can get costly yet you may usually locate one for around 50 a month. the terrific thank you to convince your mothers and dads is to locate a school that's low-cost and on your individual city. once you pass on your mothers and dads have the colleges telephone kind with you, the type they educate, regardless of if or not a settlement is needed, the right month-to-month classes (alongside with any kit expenditures) and the days of the week that they practice. i've got chanced on a martial arts college in my city in the backside of a church basement two times a week that charged $20 a month or maybe then the guy did not proactively pass after the classes, we could locate out 2 or 3 months later that we did not pay him. that's the style of school you will desire to pass after. even perhaps keep the money for the 1st 2 or 3 months your self. which will teach them which you're severe. suggestion, verify the telephone e book and are available across a school, then confront your mothers and dads with your preparation.

Sorry but I'm with your parents. You are too young to be commuting and it would be a burden on your dad. Maybe they can't afford the tuition and don't think that you will be able to pay for it. Maybe they are concerned for your protection.

If you were my 15 year old child, I wouldn't let you go.
