1) You can go to btujunkie.org or isohunt.com and download full albums or discographies but you first need a bittorrent client such as "uTorrent" or "Azureus" (Google those and download them.) uTorrent is for Windows and Azureus works on any platform that supports Java, including Windows.
2) Libraries usually let you take out 10 CDs/DVDs.
3) You can get music off IRC. You first need a client such as mIRC (or Irssi if you use Linux) and after learning how it works you can find music via sites like: PacketNews.com or any XDCC search site.
4) You can use newsgroups. Download something like "Newsbin" and find your ISPs newsgroup server (some ISPs don't have one, but if they do you can find it on their website or by calling them). You can now connect to that server and add some news groups such as "alt.binaries.music" and you'll be able to download some stuff there.
5) P2P. Limewire is a p2p app but there are many others. Google for a list of p2p apps and try others out, although this is not used as often anymore.
IRC is where you can find high quality releases. That's where the music underground really is, but it isn't that easy to use and to get the good stuff you generally need hookups and good connections.
I recommend going with method 1. You can find any album or discography you want from ISOhunt, BTJunkie, ThePirateBay and other sites. Bittorrent is revolutionary. It might be slow at times but you usually have to keep the client running overnight. Learn more about it at bittorrent.com

Someone once said "There is no such thing as a free lunch". Downloading songs from the Internet for free is generally illegal, as the performer will not receive royalties for the download. If you are this way inclined, do a google search for "p2p" or "peer to peer". You will probably find some results like eMule.

Demonoid, pirate bay, these are just a couple. The only thing is you have to use something like utorrent to download them and you can only download the albums, not just a single song, but you will get the right songs and movies you want without spam or viruses.

Well, any program and website that gives you free music is exactly like going into Best Buy and putting some of their CDs in your pockets and running out....it's exactly the same....
