What do you think of the fact that a woman is obligated to get the highest education she possibly can, and if she can't, her father or husband are obligated to pay for it? Here are some verses and hadiths. What do you think of those extremists who take these rights from them?

Narrated AbudDarda': "Kathir ibn Qays said: I was sitting with AbudDarda' in the mosque of Damascus. A man came to him and said: AbudDarda, I have come to you from the town of the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) for a tradition that I have heard you relate from the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him). I have come for no other purpose.

He said: I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) say: If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, Allah will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise. The angels will lower their wings in their great pleasure with one who seeks knowledge, the inhabitants of the heavens and the Earth and the fish in the deep waters will ask forgiveness for the learned man. The superiority of the learned man over the devout is like that of the moon, on the night when it is full, over the rest of the stars. The learned are the heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets leave neither dinar nor dirham, leaving only knowledge, and he who takes it takes an abundant portion. (Translation of Sunan Abu-Dawud, Knowledge (Kitab Al-Ilm), Book 25, Number 3634)"

Narrated AbuHurayrah: "The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone acquires knowledge of things by which Allah's good pleasure is sought, but acquires it only to get some worldly advantage, he will not experience the arf, i.e. the odour, of Paradise. (Translation of Sunan Abu-Dawud, Knowledge (Kitab Al-Ilm), Book 25, Number 3656)"

In the above Noble Verse and Sayings, we clearly see that knowledge and education are a must on both Muslim men and women. Those who know are better than those who do not know. Those who are rich in knowledge are the most who fear Allah Almighty, through glorifying Him, appreciating Him and Respecting His Mighty Power, for they would have more knowledge about Him than those who don't know.

Men and women in Islam are both encouraged to become more educated because the nonreligious person is one which is ignorant. One wise professor once said, for every two steps you take to to pursue your education, God will give you three. I loved that saying and it stuck with me now that I'm trying to pursue a degree in the medical field inshallah, I see this is very true.

All that that you mention that it is in the teachings sounds beautiful and should be like that, but the real thing is that women are well educated in the Arab world but not the vast majority and depends of the country where they live. It is well known that men in the Islamic world are very abusive with women and take their rights from them. They beat them, they use them like slaves or like a inferior race. For example, in Lebanon and Egypt the women are well educated and can live in a western lifestyle if they want, they have education and some are very successful, I believe that has to do with the country that you come from. Ah! And one more thing, contrary what the people think in general, the Arab women are very beautiful.

Lemme see. Kitab al ilm, Book of Knowledge or Learning?

Hmmm, yes, it does say that Learning is the way to Paradise. But, unfortunately, it doesn't say what kind of Learning and it doesn't mentiuon to the women.

Ergo, the Imams can twist this to say :

a] The Qua'ran says that it is the study of the Qua'ran alone that can give you al Jannat, and forbid all other studies.

b] As women are not specifically mentioned there, that women should not be allowed to study!?

c] Use the Qua'ran Surah 4:34 to prove the inferiority of women and hence deny them Education.

Isn't this what is happening in Afghanistan where the Taliban even butchered a good Teacher who had dared to go against their word and teach young girls in his home?

Isn't it true that in most Muslim homes, female infanticide is still practiced? Becuase they see the girl as a burden and the son as the one who'll carry on the Family name?

Is it not true that in most Muslim homes the girl is not given preference for studies, because, after all, she'll only end up getting married and having children and cooking and taking care of the house!?

Sadly, though you might like to say that the Qua'ran is full of good; it's practitioners show the potential danger that this whole thing is!

What do I think of the extremists who deny their Muslim sisters their God given Right?

I think they should be shot!

But then, I am a Kaffir! Why don't the devout Muslims protect you like it is their duty to do?

Pax vobiscum, pax dominic.

Yes, that is true. Women and men are supposed to receive an education. The highest education that they can get.
Great job in dispelling myths that Islam women are uneducated!
The extremists are corrupting Islam and people are willing to listen to them rather than people who follow the true Islam. Sad isn't it?
