Seen many here who claim forced arranged marriage, Female genital mutilation, executing teenagers for sex outside marriage or being gay,honour killings, male family memebers sexaully bullying and controling female family members

Has nothing to do with islam, that islam is nice fluffy, peaceful and into womens rights.

How do you explain why all this only really happens in islamic countires and not in sexaully open countries lik the Netherland or germany?

& is not the norm in non islamic cultures.


& why things like sharia law, sharia courts, ministries of vicve and virtue, figures like 95%+ girls genitally mutilated in countries like Somalia.


Enforced & pushed by islamic leaders who rule these countires and accepted as the norma along with removing girls identity in bukas.

As culture and relgion are often one and the same.

Whatever is the dominant relgion around the world it effects and influenced the culture like buddist countires tend to be more peaceful then islamic ones.

Pagan ones tend to be more open minded about sex.


As for dressing modestly


Covering ones self up and having o face or recognisable features is not dressing modestly its covering upany human identiyt.


Beauty is a good thing and people are individual so need to look different.


People checking each other out is whats needed to spark things that lead to your marriage.

No easy answer here, my friend. This is my take:

There is nothing nice and fluffy about interpreting religion to debase or denigrate other members of society or indeed any cultural "other".

The idea of religious toleration in modern political thought is a relatively modern one; it originated in 19th century Europe. It is a product of secular modernism.

The problem is that secular modernism has not really taken root in the Islamic world. It is still struggling to come to grips with concepts like the separation of Church and State , religious tolerance and a vibrant civil society and a free press, things which are taken for granted in the West.

The result is sometimes reactionary and fundamentalist as a means to assert their cultural or religious heritage. It is quite difficult when people use a pre-industrial code like the Sharia to govern their lives in the 21st century. It will not work.

So I would not describe traditional Islam as fluffy or modern or even as a religion of peace. The religion is still going through a process of self-examination in view of the challenges of the modern world.

In Islam, sex outside marriage is a Great Sin, as it leads to children having no responsible parent. And children without adults taking care of them would grow up without guidance. Therefore Islam says that if two unmarried couple have sex, they should be whipped (if they can be proven to have committed the sin) in public, and if the person who committed the sin is married, then he/she should be stoned to death by the community in public. Find out what the rulings on "whip" and "stone" in Islam means. Honour killing (I think your typo referred to this) is not Islamic. It is practiced by communities that have thousand-years-old roots in tribal and caste allegiances. These include the Indians, the Turks, and some Native Indian cultures. The Indonesians, the Bosnians, the Central Asians, and the French do not practice this killings. It has nothing to do with religion. Again, you pointed out that girls were forced to have sex (rape?) outside of marriage, which is obviously NOT Islamic. Where did you get these facts from? Islam allows women to ride on camels, donkeys, horses, bicycles, motorbikes, skateboards, scooters, Mercedes, Porches, aeroplanes, USS Entreprise, aircraft carriers, and even piggy-back. It is culture that subjugates women, as only the Saudi culture does not allow women to drive. 50++ other Muslim countries have no problems with women driving a vehicle. Forced female genitalia mutilation is also un-Islamic as the Prophet never told anybody to practice it. It is cultural, and only practiced by some cultures in Africa, whether Christian or Muslim. Islam does not allow Muslim men to show their knees up to the navel to women outside of the family. And women are told (and the women themselves are willing) to wear the hijab @ headscarf. The veil is worn only by some women throughout the Muslim world, maybe about1-2% of the entire Muslim women. Why aren't you allowing women to be modest, however they choose it? Muslims do have hippies, we call them "sufi"s. Find out about these guys. But they are not the type like the Western hippies; unproductive and bane of the society. Sufis are talented artists who are very religious and loving to people and the environment. They are also very productive and like to travel. In fact, Indonesia and Malaysia got their first encounter with Islam through these travelling artists @ hippies. Hope that helps.

I have been reading some of the answers here, by Muslims, and I am still puzzled as to why, if you are peace loving and love God, why is it that you as a group, do not denounce and cry with outrage when some of your fellow countrymen, treat women horribly and kill people (Infidels). Just saying here in this forum, that Islam is peaceful, is shameful. Actions speak louder than words, get your house in order out of fear, respect and love for God. In-action is the same as agreement. If you truly detest these things as you say here, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.....Expel the haters and murderers from amongst you, don't sit passively by and say that Islam is peaceful, prove it !!
Sitting back and doing nothing is the same as condoning the atrocities going on in that part of the world.
If you truly are a peace loving follower of Islam, and you choose to do nothing about all the bloodshed, you are part of the problem. Stop talking peace for the world, and start with acting peace in your homeland. The way women are treated over there is unholy and an abomination to God.
All life is precious to God.
Stand up and fight for your faith, don't sit there and let wickedness infiltrate and take over your faith. You have a responsibility before God to expel the wickedness from amongst you.

Throughout history, religion has been the greatest and most repetitive cause of all conflicts.
All religion is based on conflict and all religious leaders, if it suited their ends, woulds condone and instigate it.

However, in the modern world, religion is dying out. Less peolpe are going to church and the various religions are now changing long held views on various subjects such as female posotions within the religion, gays, same sex weddings etc; etc;.

They are changing because they are trying to attract people into their various sects, not because they agree with these marginalised groups or what they do but simply to put bums on seats.

Because of this, modern day western religion has lost it's will and it's power to take part or instigate or incite war.

However, there are religions like muslim which are overflowing with "bums on seats", the problem lies herein, the muslims have never been a peaceful religion, there is not one case in history where the muslim faith happily co-exists with another religion.

The muslim religion has to be the dominant religion in any society and will manifest itself into any number of factions to achieve this goal.

There lies within this religion, a nucleous of peaceful members who will have no part of conflict, yet even these members would do little or nothing to openly condemn, or "out", the fundamentalists.

Fanatics of any religion who are finding no outlet for their aggressive tendancies are flocking to join the fundamentalists as it is their door to setting free actions and emotions, which otherwise would have been subdued.
Hence you see followers from every nation (including white european) appearing in news reports as converts.

So no, the muslim religion is not a peaceful religion and it may take many years for the present situation to reach a head. Somewhere in the future lies a major conflict between these fanatics and all societies of which they are trying to intergrate.

Yes your right Islam is a peaceful religion, Sharia is the name given to the law that governs the Muslim community.

If Islam is practised as it should, it elevates the status of women, not oppress them.

the type of Islam that is going on currently in the Islamic countries today is man made Sharia, who have easily changed laws to suit their convoluted minds and made it religion.

There is no such thing as honour killings in Islam. Islam came at time when this brutality was so widespread, it abolished such things.

Female genital mutilation also is a practise which was widespread before the advent of Islam. But men whom for centuries were so used to having their women chained and under their control could not give up this ritual as this would mean women liberation. this was not acceptable to the men at the time, it was unthinkable..

Same goes for forced marriages...shame on everyone who enforces such disgusting things and blames it on Islam to ruin and tarnish its name. All greedy and power full men who know that if they practised Islam in its true nature they would have to respect their wives, daughters and sisters.

As with your other anti-Islam questions, a lot of what you are referring to are cultural practices and are NOT encouraged or condoned by Islam. When will you understand that there is a HUGE difference between the two?

As far as dressing modestly, why do you have a problem with people respecting their bodies and not flaunting what they have for all to see?

My husband is Muslim and I live in his native country. I do not live a miserable life here, with unreasonable practices or crazy rituals. I am respected, I have rights and I am treated very well by my husband, his family and his country.
