It IS possible, but doesn't happen too often.
PLEASE, get it treated! The test is painless, the treatment is painless, and it can make all the difference in the world. Apnea can affect your heart in negative ways, along with your blood pressure, weight, mental well-being, and many other things.
I work in a sleep lab and treat this all the time. Email me if you have any questions about it.

Yes, my 32 year old uncle had sleep apnea. The autopsy report listed cause of death as Sleep Apnea/Heart Failure.
Basically he had been at his brother's house and fell asleep on the couch. He didn't have his breathing machine with him, and he had a heart attack and couldn't wake up.

Yes, but very rare. Most persons with apnea wake themselves in attempt to get air, on a subconsious level of course. This repeated waking causes poor rest but the alternative would indeed be suffocation. Extreme apena sufferrers need to use a c-pap or bipap machine at night to insure they do indeed get air. This insures you kep breathing, however it compromises your sleep quality also as the device is something similar to star wars.

Sleep apnea CANNOT change the color of your clothing or bedding. If you want to dye them, rely on traditional methods.

yes, if they aren't able to start breathing again. Apnea is when you stop breathing.
