Yes, that's what I usually do. It is very good. Of course that is in addition to using cottage cheese. I've never tried it with just sour cream.

Well I wouldn't recommend using sour cream because of the consistency. It will just be a runny mess when cooked.

Here is what I do since ricotta is just a little potent (if you know what I mean), it's on the stronger end of cheeses and can taste a bit 'dry'. I mix half ricotta with half cottage cheese. I've been making it like this for years. My brother in law came over a while back and dreaded the fact that we were having lasagna but wanted to be polite so he ate it --- he was hesitant because he doesn't really like the ricotta flavor. WELL, he ate and ate and ate. Loved it. Asked me what I did and I told him. And now that is the only way he'll make it, and often shares the recipe with his friends.

Good luck - just don't use the sour cream - you'll regret it.

Whyever would you want to to that??
No, no, no, take it from an Italian. You need Italian ricotta for lasagna. If you're not crazy about ricotta, make a meat or veggie lasagna instead. Or, you could use only half the ricotta and maybe add some bechamel sauce. The bechamel keeps the lasagna moist and creamy. Good luck and happy eating.

I do use sour cream when making lasagna. I use a small container of it(8oz) and mix it with a bigger one of small curd cottage cheese(16 oz). My very italian husband loves it this way instead of using ricotta cheese.

No. It would just melt and you'd end up with juicy, runny lasagna. Some folks substitute cottage cheese instead but, I hate cottage cheese in lasagna. Stick to ricotta.

Yes, you can .but it will get watery. Here are a couple of recipes that use sour cream and some tell you to mix it with ricotta or cottage cheese. I am going to list them and add there sites here but you are going to have to try recipes and adjust as you make them for your taste. (any recipe)

I wouldn't recommend it. Try and stick with another type of cheese as a replacement if you can't get ricotta, but most grocery stores carry it.
