Ok whatever you do, DON'T pop it.
Ok just keep using your usual zit creams and stuff. It takes time. Try putting a warm, wet washcloth on it. I do that and it makes it get a bit smaller and sometimes it makes it naturally pop. (That's the only time that it's ok-if you don't apply pressure and it just pops by itself). Just act like it's not there and people won't notice it as much. They'll notice your confidence. I had a huge zit on my cheek and I did that and now it's gone. Also, you could get extractions. (A type of facial where PROFESSIONALS pop the zits). I got that done and it was painful.....wouldn't recommend it unless you need it to go away really fast. It leaves your skin glowing too.

I hate it when that happens. I used to have the same problem especially when it's about that time. But to prevent that from happening, I have been really taking care of my face by using the right products that works well with my face. I use a facial cleanser and scrub twice a day (am & pm). The brand I use that works for me is St. Ives - medicated. It has .5% salicilyc acid - this is good for combination skin (meaning oily and dry). Scrubs are good to take away dead skin cells as well as oils that causes pimples (clogging). Also stay away from oily products for the lips and the hair - these products can cause pimples. Avoid touching your face a lot, the oils/dirt from your hands can cause it too. Avoid popping your pimples for they will cause scarring.
Now, to answer your question, purchase this cream at your local pharmacy (it should be over the counter). It has tretinoin .025% on it. Trust me it works wonders, the next day your pimple doesn't swell up as much or even never. That's what i've been using. If not, purchase these other creams: Clean&Clear (blemish - salicylic acid acne medication) or Clearasil (maximum strength acne treatmen). If you can't afford to buy these products, try lipstick before going to be bed. It should help it from swelling and should dry it up. The main point is to keep the area where the pimple and the pimple itself - DRY. good luck! Just know -- you must try to prevent this from happening again. ;)

Proactiv is the only thing that has worked well for me so far. However, you'd have to order it, and that may take a while. For future use, TRY PROACTIV. Believe me it even smells nice and makes your face feel smooth (and zit-less). For now I'd say maybe Clearasil (cream you can buy at most drug stores), and keep the area clean. Don't irritate it or touch it because the oil on your fingers can make it worse.
