Absolutely! It's just like a panini press, and you don't have one more expensive gadget in the kitchen. I've used both my panini press and the Foreman, and sandwiches turn out exactly the same.

RE:
Can I use the George Foreman grill as a panini grill/press too?

I gave this a try tonight. The George Foreman worked great for making a panini type sandwich. As the Foreman tilts towards the front, the sandwich has a tendency to move towards the front. I turned the sandwich around halfway through cooking so that it brown evenly. I also put a cast iron skillet on top so it pressed a little better.

Absolutely! I got a Foreman grill as a gift a few months ago and have only used it as a panini press -- saved myself a few bucks on buying one of those. It gets very hot so be sure to check after a few minutes so you don't burn your bread. Nice thick slices of bread work the best, and you can fill the panini with anything you want. Bon appetit!
