Don't get me wrong. I don't mind being away from my Hitler of a boss. She's been my worst nightmare since this pregnancy started. Bedrest, at this point, is WAY cool with me.

What I am wondering, though, is how long it takes for labor to typically start after the baby drops and is engaged in the pelvis. I know that it's different for everyone, but I'm curious.

Thank you in advance for all of your answers.

I'm sorry. We've had a few labor scares within the past two weeks, too. You know, contractions coming on, more than four an hour, and the baby not moving for several hours at a time.

My boss is trying to get me to do heavy lifting at work (over 40 lbs), and my blood pressure is a little on the high side. I hope that helps.

Just because the baby dropped doesn't mean that labor is imminent. You're on bed rest now to prevent labor and it'll work, believe me! I was on bed rest with my first son for similar reasons and I carried him until 38 1/2 weeks. I was on bed rest from the 26-30th week and then moderately after that. If you follow doctor's orders, and I mean that you really must make yourself stay in bed which gets old fast, you'll be fine. And keep telling yourself that you want to keep that baby in there as long as possible, at least past 36 weeks, so do whatever it takes! Good luck!

I've never ever heard of anyone being on bedrest because the baby dropped. If that were the case, no mother would be working the last weeks or pregnancy and most who plan to work once baby is born, work until they pop. My son dropped at 28 weeks and I was induced at 39 weeks. Within 2 weeks could be possible but I've never seen it happen. lol It is a nice thought though. You could end up even being overdue, the fact that the baby dropped means nothing when it comes to when you will give birth.

Once the baby has dropped, it generally will be born within two weeks.

If you think labour is pending, call your dr. immediatley. YOu will need to get medicine to mature the baby's lungs.

GOod luck. I am sure everything will be fine.

p.s. Enjoy your time off.
