No I don't. For good na' sake. We cause this stuff ourselves (in my opinion). Look at the amount of pollution we put into our atmosphere, global warming and all that. I think it is more applicable to blame ourselves for such disasters, even the environment we live in. But to claim that it was God's doing is pure speculation. There is no evidence to back it up.

No, I do not think God causes these things to happen. Much of what happens in this world are the direct result of what mankind has done and the choices they have made. God has not taken it upon himself to punish mankind since before Jesus arrived on the scene. I am not saying that we are not sinners, but God has not to my knowledge said that any sin is greater than any other so why would people in New Orleans be punished? The Mardi Gras is no more sinful than a thousand other things in the world. If God was punishing whole cities as he did in the time of Sodom, then we would not have a city left standing anywhere in the world for are all sinners.

Yes, the Bible is clear that God does punish the wicked. Just read why God sent the Great Flood in the time of Noah (Gen 6:5); or the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen 13:13); and there are others; and not all of God's punishments are recorded in the Bible.
But most importantly, the punishment from God that will come upon the whole earth for its wickedness is not far away.

Sometimes that is true but other times it is not. In Islam this does occur to punish sinners, such as what happened in Indonesia when the tsunami hit. The only buildings that were left untouched by the tsunami were the mosques, check out the link I provided. Other times when this statement is false is when a good religious worshiper is tortured through their life because of hardship or war. In these cases God is trying to test that individual to see if his/her actions will truly guarantee him a place in the hereafter with God. When you may have a hard day of troubles or sins, instead of complaining thank God for the things he has blessed you with, like your education and your will power, since this will provide you a closer place with God.

Can you believe that from what I understood to be a believer Just said "there is no evidence to back that up". That sounds like someone who doesn't believe in God. The ENTIRE bible says that God will do these things, especially in the end times. READ Matthew 24 whole chapter. Even in Revelations, it talks about 100 LB hail stones.
You see, there are many , many false Christians out there and they don't want to admit that God would wipe out a town with a tornado. Yes, maybe there were babies in the path of that tornado, but we will just have to wait to get to Heaven to ask the "whys" questions.
YES, I believe that God controls the weather world wide at the same instance ..........down to the square mile.
EDIT: the believer that I referred to in my first paragraph has evidently "deleted" their answer.

God has brought down plagues and disaster's in the past to punish the wicked. He may do so again if He chooses. and before some misinformed person starts harping on why God would do such a thing , or is He worthy of our loyalty, what about the innocent people...etc... what has He done to the innocent but to bring them home to be with Him...to end their earthly suffering....Having faith mean's believing He knows what he is doing.

I believe there are things in life that are just random, or just being unlucky. You can not categorize everything as punishment from above. We lost our son 2 years ago from drunk driving. I do not believe God set out to punish us or punish him. It was unfortunately a very bad decision on his part and he was one of the unlucky ones. There are so many ways to look at life situations. I believe do good and good things happen, do bad and suffer the consequences. For every action there is a reaction.
Did God punish all the Jews in the holocaust, or the Africans by allowing them to be tortured? I do not think so....

No, he doesn't punish people through disasters. The Bible does say those things, but that doesn't make it so. Man has been blaming natural disasters and weather on a higher deity since the beginning of time. They lived in a world without a weather man and had no understanding of how weather creates itself here on earth. We are victims of Mother Nature not a vengeful God.

If God really caused disasters to punish sinners, we would all be dead right now. Come on...really. Some disasters were brought on by us, but for the most, God is patient and holds back a lot.

Since tornados, hurricanes, sink holes and rates of parasitic diseases are much higher in the Bible belt compared to the atheistic regions in the northern states, why do you think God has it in for the Bible Belt folks?
