Do you think that this Edwards county deputy should have been charged with a crime ?
Did you watch Americas Most wanted last night ?

Short synopsis of case:
Gilmer stopped a car for running a stop sign in his town. When he was standing by the car after it pulled over the driver suddenly turned the car sharply towards Gilmer amost hitting him as it sped off. Gilmer shot out the one tire and tried to shoot our the other in order to stop the SUV. Only 4 shots were fired. The SUV was carrying illegal aliens being smuggled into the US. One of the four shots caused a bullet fragment to enter into a womans lips causing her to lose 2 teeth, she was treated and then released the next day from the hospital. The prosecution headed by Texas AG Jonny Sutton charged Gilmer with violating the illegal alien womans civil rights and wanted Gilmer to serve 7 to 10 years..
If you are commiting a crime, any crime you take the chance of being injurded. What crime did Gilmer commit ? His job?

Once again we have Johnny Sutton persecuting our law enforcement. Bush appointee...hmm think there is a connection? Wonder if that is what he meant when he PROMISED the Mexican people comprehensive reform?

Sutton needs to be tried for his crimes and Bush just needs to go away.

First of all Gilmer's intent was CLEARLY to disable the vehicle and not hurt anyone. The van had already blown through a stop sign so was a potential danger to anyone on the road.

The other choice was to give pursuit which would further have endangered his life, those in the vehicle, and anyone else on the road.

Under the circumstances he absolutely made the right choice. He succeeded in stopping the vehicle and avoided a dangerous pursuit. The Texas Rangers did their own investigation and determined that Gilmer did nothing wrong.

This is another "in your face" affront to the American people by the Bush administration. We need to let them know that we will not tolerate this nonsense.

I heard about this and it is awful how one can not do their dangerous job. So she only lost two teeth and is still here? After all the medical costs too? No charges for being here illegal?I did not see the show, but I do not think that officer should have been charged for doing his job. What did the prosecutor want; the officer to be hit by the vehicle first?

The Driver was driving irradically...what was the cop suppose to do? Let the people do what they want and then when they kill someone say, OPPSSS, I am sorry!

Sutton is the one who needs to go to prison for not protecting these United States from the REAL criminals.

No crime. Sutton is at it again! First Ramos & Compeon and now this miscarriage of justice.

The officer used very poor judgment. He should have called for back up. The use of excessive force was the issue. It is fortunate that he got a light sentence.
