We managed to successfully lay both linoleum and outdoor carpeting in our first (old) house- both on the porches and in the bathroom. One of our neighbors was a contractor and gave us this advice. If the floor has been recently painted or sealed than you can mop it (leaving at least a day or so to completely dry). If the floor is either unpainted, the paint is worn, it has only been stained (ie unsealed) then the best thing is to avoid water. Just sweep it very thoroughly than vacuum. If there are some especially dirty ares like the sides, crevasses, etc... than a rough brush and a spray bottle (just mist, don't soak it) work well- but be sure to let it thoroughly dry. The adhesive will stick fine as long as the floor is reasonably clean (ie no obvious dirt) but most importantly dry. Also check on the condition of the plywood before you lay the linoleum. It's much easier to replace any warped or rotted areas now than after the adhesive (nasty stuff) is down. On that note, he did strongly recommend applying adhesive over the entire floor versus "floating" it on outdoor floors.
Good luck... we also were unable to find much on the web about it.

If the dirt is stuck on try using a heavy duty scrub brush---brush the area well and then vacuum it. You will probably want to thoroughly vacuum the entire area and get as much dirt out of the plywood as possible.
Good luck.

A broom or vacuum will do fine unless there is grease/oil on it and you are using an adhesive. Spot clean any of these areas as you do not want to soak the wood.
