I read an article about how the Topic of Religion is beoming soically acceptable in the workplace.

I disagree wholeheartedly, and think it should be seperated from Work, School and Politics.

Just because Christians are the majority int he USA, doesn't give them the right to force their belief system down our throats.

Religion is the very worst of man's inventions. If people insist on believing that malarky, that's not a problem for the rest of us, but when they start mixing it with work and politics, etc....then it does become a problem for the rest of us.

Religion should be banned everywhere except their churches and their homes.

I am not sure that you can equate the trend of religion becoming more acceptable for discussion in the work place with Christians trying to "force their belief system down our throats." In fact, over the last 50 years, the manifestation of Christian values in society at large has decreased greatly.

I agree it's best left out of the workplace but it's a very fine line. If an HR Dept comes out with an edict that states it will not be talked about someone will sue using religious discrimination as a base. To leave it totally open leaves the door open for people to be harassed by someone not of their religion.

It basically is common sense to keep it out of a place where you earn your living.

I work in a church in the nursery of a daycare, and the past two weeks the other employees have managed to get the director fired and tried to replace her with one of the other teachers when I was confronted about my views I pointed out that I was there to care for the kids I was watching so the parents could feel safe when they left them behind to go do whatever they had to. What about the people I work with who have fellowship with God..didn't see that from any one. They knew all about Greys anatomy.

there is a time and a place for everything...if someone in the workplace asks me a question about my beliefs, i answer...but, i don't carry on and on about it...if that someone wants to know details and i can answer WITHOUT it interferring with my work, i try to treat the question just like i would any other question...if not asked, i don't offer...the same as i don't offer any other type information...i feel that religious topics are about like any other topic...they should be discussed, but only at appropriate times and places

The article said that there are more discussions about religion. Taking your point to its logical route, you would also ban discussion of politics, sports and other such controversial topics.

How are they shoving it down your throat?

If someone is on break and quietly reading their Bible how does that affect you?

No one is forcing it down your throat, you have the right not to associate with them. However, you don't have the right to censor them.

i think it's fine, as long as atheists, muslims, christians, catholics, and everyone else get to take off for every single religious holiday in every single religion. Just think, we'd probably have 4 full months off just for holidays!

Religion has no place at work. You're supposed to work, not gab about religion.
