I am 20 years old, I have girls as friends but not a girlfriend. For some reason either I don't have the confidence or the guts to talk to a girl I like. I try so hard not to look stupid in front of them that I look even more stupid. I am really paranoid that I might be reading signals or body language wrong. Like maybe they mean the opposite. People always give me the most corniest advice too on how to ask her out. They say a girl that stares means she likes you but then my paranoid side comes out and tells me that she is staring cuz she thinks your ugly. That type of stuff. I'm an idiot. I'm not the jealous type just paranoid sometimes like I overthink things.

the reason I ask about the staring thing is because I read an article that said women stare at guys to attract them and when the guy walks over, the woman rejects him. She "tests" them.

you have to not overthink things-that's neurotic. be relaxed and strike up a conversation. if there's akward silence sometimes or alot,take it as a sign you and her don't have much to say and move on. you're normal-just afraid of being rejected like anyone else. take risks-you'll be glad to get somewhere and be better at asking a girl out-there's really no subsitute.

Most girls are not that complicated. They want the same things that you do. Just be yourself and don't worry so much. If you are attracted to somebody ask them out. What's the worse thing they can say? No? If that's the answer so be it...it's not the end of the world. Practice makes perfect....don't give up...keep trying. People dont' stare at people because they think they are ugly....they would be afraid the person would approach them if they did so they wouldn't stare. Usually somebody staring finds you attractive or something about you is interesting....don't read so much into it.

OK here is some simple yet good advice, how do I know? I taught my best friend the same thing I do and I works every time! BE YOURSELF, when you go out with your friends be there for them, talk to girls, say hi but after talking to them a while let them know your there with your friends and get back to them, most of the time, unless your conversation sucked they are intrigued by this and want more, they will start to approach you to talk more, be nice talk to them and if possible get their number, don't act as if your on the prowl, this will turn off a girl faster than you wink, men and women are alike in the seance we want what we think we cant have, we are all guilty of that, on the same thought dont come of as unapproachable then they will not come talk to you, it is hard but it works, I learned this from women and I works!

You've pretty much answered your own question. You know exactly what it is that you are doing that just isn't "normal", so make up your mind to just stop doing it. Treat the opposite sex exactly the same way you would treat your male buddies. By that, I mean, just relax, be friendly, and BE the real person inside trying to get out. Females are human beings too, so just treat them like that. Try to imagine the girl is your sister. Whether or not you have a sister, I am sure you know that with your sister, you'd feel comfortable, and relaxed, and not be worrying about how she views you, or what she thinks of you. Above all, treat that person (and remember she is a person first and a female second) like a friend.

Stop listening to other people. And if a girl is staring at you it is not because she thinks you are ugly. If that were the case she would not be staring at you. Calm down, stop over thinking, and simply ask. Who cares, if she says yes, great, if not keep asking others. Eventually you will find the right one. Yeah, I pretty much have the same problem. I find loosening up really effective, like, just be yourself and dont think too much; I think the reason why they look at you is because they can see the hundred words of nervousness storming in your mind. I mean, girls, they can see these things. Weird, but true.

if a girl is staring at you, she likes you. i dont think id ever stare at a guy i thought was ugly.. why would i want to when i could be busy checking out hot guys =D dont try so hard to not look stupid, even if u relax and look stupid, its cute, as long as you let the chick giggle at your doofy mistakes. its cute. if your really freeking out and think your never going to get a chick.. go to a club or something, even if you go alone, look for the ugliest chick who is alone and just practise some things, try and make her feel special, and as you get more used to it. youll eventually end up with some hot chick =] goodluck!

Trust me, when you meet that someone who's meant for you... you will know. I was exactly the same and i never felt comfortable with the idea of relationships and committing myself to someone and, like yourself, i overlooked the 'signs'. But then i met this one person who changed everything, all them feelings i had before went away and it was love at first sight. I'm still with him now and we love each other very much! Don't worry!
