okay I recently got my cartilage pierced in my upper ear with a 14 gauge earring...I have replaced it with a plug for sports, but I don't know how to get the earring back in? It's a ball earing (i don't know the exact term for it) but the ball doesn't screw on and I don't know how to put it back on?

That type of jewelery is called a captive bead ring. It works on pressure so you'll need to pry apart the ring to stick the ball back in. Sounds easier than it is. Especially since cartilidge isn't very elastic, I'd recommend going to a piercer. They might charge something like $5 to do it for you, but it saves time, keeps your ear from getting irritated and they won't screw it up.

If it's a crimp on ball there are a certin type of plyers that almost all peircing places have. Take it from someone who works in a shop ... go to someone who does it for a living because if they screw up they are liable. Do it yourself and take the top of your ear off you just have to live with the top of your ear missing.

uhm. i think i know what you mean. if the ball is attatched to a wire-like thing. then you need someone to help you put it back in. if it wont attach with just hands you might need to use plyers.

one of my friends had that problem and i had to help them. so maybe thats what happened to you
