how long does it take for the ps3 to update?

When u take it out of the box,you are instructed to go on-line and update the software.
I am currently doing this and have been waiting an age.
How long should i give it?

It took mine about 15 minutes to download the file as is quite big and then about 6 minutes to install the new version. you can cancel the download but do not cancel the update of the system as it may not work.
