I asked a former question about my chemically damaged hair and need some more help. I know that I shouldn't blowdry daily, but I literally could not leave the house if I didn't. I let it air dry a bit and then blow for about 5 or less minutes. Then, brush/mostly finger fluffing because I don't have much hair, and hair spray, and fluff a little more. I have always had psoriasis in the sides of my head and if I don't wash and dry daily, it itches bad. I just really want my hair to grow back in. Should I skip a daily washing or is this bad for my psoriasis? But, that way I would be skipping a day of the blowdryer heat every other day? However, on the flip side, I heard that you should wash daily to promoted hair growth. I'm confused.

i have really damaged hair too. i don't know much about psoriasis, but i do know ways to help your hair. i would wash your hair every other day, but still shower daily. i use a shower cap when i don't wash my hair. if you wash your hair daily, it does damage your hair more. i don't know your hair type (if its naturally curly, big, etc) but i have naturally big/curly hair. i try to blow dry my hair with cool air... it takes longer, but does a lot less damage. if you want straight hair, i wear a hat after i dry my hair. surprisingly, it works... but everyone's hair is different. i hope it works out for you

I don't know much about the psoriasis, but try skipping a day of washing (and drying) your hair - try it on a weekend when you have the time. That way you can see how your hair looks and if psoriasis flares up.

If you still need to wash daily, then I would use a deep conditioner for your hair. Also, maybe look for a new blowdryer - some of them have the Ionic feature which is a bit less harsh on your hair.

Washing you hair daily actually discourages hair growth. You are washing away the natural oils that your scalp produces that promote hair growth. Depending on your hair type, 3-4 times a week is enough. On the non-washing days, if you are concerned about the way it looks, wear it up, or braid it, and it will not look like you haven't washed it, it will just look like you are wearing a different style. If you are worried about your psoriasis, every other shampoo use a medicated shampoo specifically designed for psoriasis.

You should really use products that are made to protect your hair from the heat of dryers, curling irons, or flat irons. There's this line called Pro Natural’s that is really good for damaged or chemically processed hair because its so gentle and it uses argan oil which is the best thing you can use on your hair. Look them up online and see if you like anything from them.

Something that may help you is actually an all natural product. Natural products have ingredients that don't irritate skin and are healthy and repairing for your hair. Walmart has a select line of 100% natural products that were invented actually by a girl with damaged hair who wanted a better answer. But one of the best things you can do for yourself is moisture, lots of moisture. There are truly all natural answers and they work better than a lot of prescriptions. Maybe check out your local mom and pop health food store and they can help you with different herbal supplements and all natural topicals.
