I dont know what you would get. What I do know is that you would definetely NOT get a poached egg. If you want a poached egg bring a pot of water up to 165-175 degrees Fahrenheit, add a good splash of white vinegar. Then gently lower an egg out of its shell into the water (preferably cracked into a small container first). Let it cook like that until the white has cooked and is firm but the yolk is still soft and liquid. Then raise it out with a slotted spoon, dap it on some towel and thats a poached egg

If you want to poach an egg the right way,you have a flat pan of water that has just boiled, turned down to a gentle simmer, break the egg/eggs into a bowl & gently slide it into the water wait till it ihas set enough for your taste, lift out with a a flat perforated kitchen too, also called a 'slice'l.Breaking into a pot of fiercely boiling water, may need expertise without which i think you would have a messed up egg !.

It would depend on how you put the egg into the water and if it was plain water. If the egg is whole and extracted whole you get a poached egg. If the egg is added if a thin stream and stirred you get the beginning at least the possibly of egg drop soup- this is general added to an already prepared heavy stock.

I do this in a frying pan. boil the water turn heat to med-high then crack your eggs into the pan. at the same time put 2 slices of bread in toaster as soon as the toast pops butter it take the eggs out with a slotted spoon and put them over the toast add a touch of salt and pepper to taste and mash egg with fork to eat with toast. we have been making this particular breakfast food my entire life and I am amercian born and raised with a german french heritage. We call this poached eggs. It has very little fat and does not require oil to fry.

We also like the asian egg drop soup (that is basically the same concept that you were seeing i think) I would assume have a pot of chicken base that you crack eggs into the pot stir and serve. the stirring makes the eggs scramble while they boil a la egg drop soup

Yes, its an easy way to make poached eggs, scoop the egg out of the boiling water with a slotted spoon, place on buttered toast, yummy. REally good if your tummy is not feeling so well.

Poached egg! Delicious! I usually have it in soup. I bring my soup to a boil, add the egg, scoop it out and eat a bowl of soup with a poached egg in it. Makes a great breakfast, lunch or quick diner.

Poached eggs, but you want simmering water, very low heat- takes about 2 minutes(till the white is fully cooked). Remove from pan & eat. I usually put in a bowl add a teas of but & salt & pepper & toast. mmmmmmm

Yes, it's called poaching them. It's a low-calorie way to cook an egg, and they taste so good.

Sounds like a poached egg to me if it was just water he dropped it into. Or if it was broth and he stirred it, he made egg drop soup.
