pink eye has two different forms. there is viral and there is bacterial. the bacterial form shows up with a greenish to yellowish crusty discharge in the eye with the eye being matted shut some times. the eye is also a pink color. the viral doesn't have the crusty discharge. you can use a over the counter medicine for the viral kind as you have to let that run it's course. use a warm wash cloth on the eye as a relief. the bacterial kind needs an antibiotic from the doctor that you will use for 7-10 days, 4 times a day. again use the warm wash cloth to help dematt the eye and give some relief from the itching. good handwashing is the key to not spreading around. don't touch the eyes when infected.

Your eye, or eyes in some cases, will turn pink. You may think they are just bloodshot except that they will itch and burn like crazy. You'll have to go to the doctor for a prescription. Its also contagious so you won't want to be around too many people. Kids who have Pink Eye will need to be out of school for a day or two.

itchey eye..the whites of the eyes are red and crust crust crust that looks like a whole lot of sleep in the eye stuck allover the eyelashes so your child (or whoever) has terrible time opening the eyes.....crusted shut....There are varying degrees of this it is worst in the morning when they get up...
Warm compresses will ease the itchy pain associated with it but conjunctivitus or Pink Eye is extremely contagious so you must wash wash clothes after eye has been wiped clean and you must wash your hands....
A Doctor will prescribe antibiotics and eye drops to get rod of it so as gross as it sounds it is pretty easy to get rid of.

you wake up with lots of gunk in the corner of your eyes, your eyes are pink and itchy and vision gets blurry...you need antibiotic eye drops to cure it. Don't share wash cloths or towels with others (can spread).
