You can call the DMV, provide the VIN or plate, they will give you non-personal info. This was a service we provided daily when I was a licensing rep. Or look at the title/registration, it will show if a lienholder is on record, depending on the state you live in, most list the lienholder on the paper copy. Good luck.

DMV has record of any for title purposes or if you know the previous owner you could probably find it in their county clerks office! I'm sure there are other means also but those are the two I would pursue! I think car fax may even offer that information too! "LIEN"

In michigan it says it on the front of the title.It has the name of the bank right under the owners name, dont know where your at but you can contact the dmv and find out

go to your local DMV office and request a title search. this woill cost you some money but it also will tell you who the previous owners were.
