My main fear is that something bad will happen to my family - especially my younger sister like dying in an accident or getting reallly ill or something. I have lots of compulsions i have to do to stop bad things from happening like touching things a certain number of times or not saying a particular word. One of my most common obsessions is to keep looking at my sister to make sure she is still alive and consequently i try to avoid being in the same room as her which makes me feel guilty for not spending time with her. Also for as long as i can remember i have had to say 'i love you' many times to my family sometimes three or four times in a row so nothing bad will happen. There are many more compulsions which are too many to list here, but i feel as though this is affecting my whole life as i can never relax or enjoy myself and many people see me as withdrawn and quiet. My mum knows i worry but dosn't really take it seriously and ...

if i get help from a psychologist or whatever it would go on my record and i won't be able to get a job as a nurse which is what i want to do. Is this true? I am going to university soon and really want this to end. Is there any way to get better?

Yes, that is definately OCD, those obsessions and compulsions are very similar to what I have been through in the past and if it is affecting your life atleast one hour a day then it is OCD, from he sounds of it then it is because it is getting in the way of everyday life situations. You should go see a doctor so you can get this taken care of and get on some medication. I have something to say about the person who says to avoid medication, I have to strongly disagree, medication has been the only thing that has been able to help me with the therapy but I had to have both when my OCD was in a severe stage. Now I just take medications to keep it under control. I have tried other things and they just don't work with OCD, you need a doctor and something that will boost your serotin which is medication and only medication can do that in my point of view. People that say to stay aay from medication must have a stress free anxiety free life cause how could you say that if you had to go through what people with OCD and depression go through, there would be no way you would not want to get help once it started getting severe and affecting your life. About the nursing, no they wouldn't be able to tell you that you couldn't be a nurse and they can't look at your medical records anyways without your permission.

Hi-
My name is Christine and I was a nurse for twn years b4 I went on disability for Anxiety and Panic attacks. I left nursing because I felt that I was no longer able to function as well as I wanted because of my conditions.
OCD isn't something that the nursing board would stop you from going to to school and working as a nurse over.
It is in your best interest to get the help you need through a therapist or psychiatrist.
You won't be stopped from the profession for not getting help....you will have problems throughout school and your career of you make it through school if your condition is left untreated.

There are many medications out there that are beneficial to OCD.
I hope this helps.

DO NOT take psychiatric medication. They have severe side effects.

Here's how you solve this problem:

Cleanse your whole body. Go to www.renewlife.com, or www.baselinenutritionals.com for the products to buy, or inquire at a health food store.

Avoid all processed foods. Eat only 100% natural, organic raw foods. Meat is good, so don't go vegan; just get organic and free range and also avoid the nitrates and nitrites.

Supplement with fish oil! This stuff is great for the brain. Go to www.nordicnaturals.com Nordic Naturals offers cod liver oil that has been filtered of all the toxins in the ocean. HIGHLY recommended. This stuff can reverse OCD.

Exercise and get lots of rest. Both of these things positively nourish the brain. You don't need drugs to increase seratonin; sleep does that for you.

Go to www.newstarget.com and search the reference section for healing herbs, supplements, and nutrients. OCD should be there. For one thing, take gingko bilboa.

Bottom line: Live with nature and you will be healed completely.

I wish you all the best. Good luck!

psychological records are not public. Going to see a therapist would not prevent you from attending university or getting a job as a nurse. No one has access to your records unless you give them permission to view them. OCD is a very treatable disorder. With therapy (prefarably cognitive behavior therapy) and possibly medication, there is no reason why you wouldn't be able to lead a perfectly normal life.

I can only say that you need to seek help through your physician. Your medical record is a private one (to the best of my knowledge) and you have to be healthy yourself before you can even begin to think about getting into a career in which you help others.

Go and speak to someone. You are not the only person with OCD and there are ways you can be helped.
God Bless and I wish you the best.
