During Katrina Relief there were several Christian organizations down there working to help others rebuild.
While not part of a group, Athiests for Rebuilding the Mississippi Gulf Coast, I am sure that there were some down there working.

Honestly, I can't think of many things that atheists do that are good for the world... I'm trying to remember something!! Umm!?
My Church has 8 orphanages in Asia, and 11 safe-houses for girls that were sold into brothels in Cambodia and the Phillipines. Each week we find a family in need of something, like a new car for a single mum or whatever. We also build houses for people who are in need of help.
We did have a free food service where homeless people and poor people could come and go grocery shopping fo free each week. But the aethiest health department shut it down because it wasn't registered as a grocery shop.
Real Christians do most of the good in the world, from what I've seen.
I'm sure there are aethiests out there who have done good. Somewhere... =P

I have been witness to a lot of people performing good deeds in the past. Because they are just good people.
I never stopped & asked them what religious denomination they were though. The care factor was quite low.

Actually, I came on here with a different id a few days ago. I was acting as a religion hater, just to see what the christians and atheists would say. While I thought that the christians would get mad, and the atheists would agree, i was DEAD wrong! The atheists didn't say anything at all, cause they knew hate, and one Christian who DID answer me talked in love and compassionate. I was amazed!

Good deeds are done by good people, period.
People who hold either philosophy may be good people, or may not be good people.
Those who feel the need to announce their good deeds are acting on their own need to be recognized.

There are several silent noble deeds are being done by many unknown who shuns exposure. But the results are visible everywhere. A silent revolution takes place, which one day will conquer the entire world by its Selfless LOVE.

Bob,
I would prefer to call you by another name. That is why I am calling you BOB. Thank you for this opportunity to express our feelings for others. I imagine that you will get some great responses from others and I want to read them. One of our brothers in Christ has volunteered to go to Iraq to take the place of one of the younger inexperienced men that probably would have been called up in the military. He has a wife and three children. Please pray for him and his family as he spends his time serving his country. We are extremly proud of him as he is not nearly as young as many of the service men and women who are there. He has been there for about a month now. He has three children, a beautiful wife, and a granddaughter here at home. He is a great example of Christianity for our young men and we love him very much. Have a great day.
Thanks,
Eds

When someone does something good, in my eyes they're a good person, not a good Christian or a good atheist....
Same with the bad thing.
I don't separate people by their beliefs or anything else. You've good and bad in everyone - race, religion, nationality... departmentalization is what is making this world so very ugly right now.

religion should NEVER have any impact on good deeds. if everyone in this world, DESPITE their religion, made a little contribution to someone else each day, i believe we'd see a significant change in the world for the better! :)

Hm. We have 25 churches in my town, so I'm sure a lot of them have done good deeds. I'm gonna say probably the best one is the soup kitchen that one church runs.
