Arrogance mostly and the need to have others "believe' as they do because in their limited capacity to understand, they believe there's strength in numbers.
Free thinkers...non-linear thinkers are OK being in their own heads and believing as they do.
By and large in today's climate, being secure in who and what you are and in what and how you believe is a lonely place, but a great place to be nonetheless.

Religion has been used throughout history to control people, and as a way for the elite to keep masses down, but that doesn't make it bad or even wrong. That just shows that people will use any means to keep themselves above the rest. Denying the possiblilty of it's truth is just as ignorant as what you're talking about . You could also say religion a way for people to feel connected to the world. I agree with you. I don't like religious people who are close minded. It shows they don't have the faith they need to take in all perspectives. Though I am wondering what exactly you mean by logic? We have no idea how the universe works. Things we "know" are true today could be proven wrong tomorrow. No one can say absolutely 100% there is no God. I believe people can be 100% sure there is a higher power in the universe.

Some people use religion as somewhat as a comfort toy. They think as long as they are clinging on and expressing their dedication, than the "big bad monsters" wont come and get them. If gives people hope in a world where there is none. So if you walk up to someone and point out the flaws of their religion, they tend to get defensive. Its almost like you are trying to take away their comfort toy and they are afraid to face that reality that exists outside.
Now, this isnt the same with everyone. Some people use their religion the right way, making educated decisions and studying the facts. And then if they still choose to worship that way, then that is wonderful. More power to them.

Aherm! By saying the above statement isn't that already an insult? That's just being hypocritical now isn't it?
Most people on Y!A havent studied apologetics enough. VERY RARELY in fact. Why? Its bec. it requires much logic to understand. Apologetics is hard to understand and many people here cannot understand the logic in it because it requires a lot of thought processing and thinking.
Go read one and hope you can follow discussions. =D
Thank You and Good night! ^_^

I'm a Wiccan and I answer some very serious questions in here and it takes me a long time to type it out..Just because it goes against their thinking, they come and give you the thumbs down.. They wouldn't know what they are talking about in most cases, yet in their ignorance and arrogance they dismiss it.. Like Easter is a Pagan festival stolen by the Christians, everything about Easter is totally Pagan and I mean everything.. They wouldn't spend an hour and look up a few things, no way.. Thumbs down... You are(Christians) a very ignorant mob.. I am a very learned person in these subjects and my reference goes far beyond an out dated 4 times bastardised book of faerie tales.. I use FACTS... Blessed Be.. )O(

Sadly not all Christians are dedicated to the study of the Bible. And you are right the ignorant does resort to insults but then again isnt that true with those who do not understand something. How can we make general remarks when we ourselves may be guilty of the same thing.

Half the people on here resort to insults, or maybe you only read selected answers. It's not just Christians, and Christians aren't the worst. Read some of the answers to questions and be enlightened.

"Religious" people don't resort to insults and refuse logic; uninformed and fanatical people do (and they ARE ignorant).
You can believe in a religion AND still be logical; you can do loads of research and not believe things just because someone feeds it to you. But after a certain point you need faith (you even have faith just to assume tomorrow's going to arrive); that's not illogical.

Not only the religious and not all resort to insults. But no, logic does not rank high up in the list of desirable traits of the religious, though it is way ahead of rationality.
