This is one of those "it depends where you get it" drinks.
Traditionally, it is made as follows:
1 oz light rum
1/2 oz banana liqueur
1/2 oz blackberry brandy
2 oz Sour Mix
1/2 oz Grenadine
Float of Dark rum
Garnished with a orange/cherry spear
Now many topical places like to make blended smoothies out of this bad boy, which might I add is a delight for a busy bartender. You whould use the saem recipe, except use 1 1/2 oz of light rum, nix the dark rum, and blend with two cups of ice.
Now if you want to be a trend setter, you layer the drink out some it comes out with a bottom of red and a top of blue, seperated by a dark line. All you need to do is after make the drink, only use 1/4 oz of grenadine, let it settle to the bottom, then add you dark rum, and finally, gently pour in 1/4 blue curacao against the side of the glass. It should float acros the top leaving you with a very attractive (and tasty) beverage.
