I am with you, I loved my in-laws, and I still do, and they love me as well. My wife died 3 years ago, and yet they still come over almost everyday to visit.

Up until about three weeks ago i had a brilliant relationship with mother in law, then while giving her a lift somewhere we got talking about finances.
It was during this conversation that she mentioned the possibility of getting a place to live with her, i thought this was a little strange as less than a week before my partner had said the same thing, now don't get me wrong i think the world of her but i really don't want her living with me, i like my privacey i like knowing that if the urge to walk round the house in my birthday suit i can without having to worry who may see me. The subject has caused a few minor arguments but i doubt if i will get much choice in the matter. I have told my partner that if her mum moves in then i will be moving out, a little harsh i know but it is the only way i was able to get my point across.

My in laws are ok; they can't stand each other, but are very good to the family in separate ways. my mother in law complains non stop about her husband to anyone who will listen..saying " I sould have left him years ago". My father in law is a silent man who keeps buying her presents. but they love all their kids madly and are both totally besotted by the grandkids. they are funny to watch all right; kind of an Alf Ganrnett thing going on!

Yes I do, incredibly for someone as unpleasant and anti-social as myself I get on famously with the in-laws, they live next door!

My long suffering partners parents live next door as well all jointly own a boarding kennels and cattery and live on site, our part is completely separate so we all have our privacy but living so close is not a problem as we get on so well.

Put it this way, last year when we went to Kenya for a safari my partners dad came with us, it was my idea that he came with us and having him there made it more enjoyable, he's a great guy.

awww thats so nice to have in-laws like that......on the other hand my in-laws were really horrible to me, they made my life hell, each time one of their sons married someone, they made sure that the sons wife was made an out-law, it was more the MIL work than FIL but they were both horrible people anyway, not very nice people, but thers is one good thing about this....they are now ex in-laws....and they are missing out on something most precious.....their grandchildren, i will not allow them to be around my kids, my kids are in a loving happy family circle and i will never ever let them 2 get near them, their loss for being such horrible nasty people

I love my mother in law, she used to live in the same home town as us but moved away. She still comes and visits twice a year and I talk to her almost every weekend.

I have an ex mother-in-law who I regard as my second mum. She has seen me through thick and thin and supported me totally through my messy divorce with her errant son. I thank god for people like her.
