My 2 year old had acute tonsillitis 5 weeks ago and it was very severe (in hospital) both were covered in pus and 1 was bleeding after 3 courses of antibiotics i thought things had calmed down but he started gagging on food after a nasty choking incident i looked at the back of his throat and his tonsils are enormous (they meet each other in thr middle) i took him to the dr who said oh well some kids just have large tonsils should i get a 2nd opinion or am i worrying over nothing

As a kid, I had tonsillitis and strep throat twice a year until I was 14. Had my tonsils removed and have had no problems since then. I am now 46 and have had strep once since I was 14.

If your child is having problems eating, you definitely need a second opinion. Nothing is too much for a child, and you should go the distance to get him the help he needs. Take him if you can to an ear nose and throat specialist, and they can resolve all your worries.
