Definitely call Le Creuset. All you have to do is ship it to them, they ask what color you want, and they ship you back a brand new one. They have great customer service. They don't even hassle you about what happened to it.
(I did this with a 40+ year old piece of LC I inherited from my mother. They didn't even care that I wasn't the original buyer!)
