A friend of mine from South Africa wanted to try one on a trip to Glasgow......he bought one in a newsagent and took it into a chippy on the Saltmarket who duly dipped it in batter and deep fried it.

He ate half of it abd couldnt finish it; it was so sweet

The only place I ever knew that had them was a chippie in Kirkliston about ten miles outside of Edinburgh. But I advise against it - I have personally never tried it but it looks really really disgusting. If you take a mars into any chippie though I am sure that they would deep fry it in batter for you.

Apparently a study by NHS Greater Glasgow found 22% of Scottish take-aways had the foodstuff on its menu and another 17% used to sell them however I've yet to come across anywhere that actually does!! I've heard rumours that a chippy in Clydebank does them but not sure if its just a myth...........
