Why do most people pray only when they are in trouble or they want something?

Real Christians pray every day, several times a day. I think that you are talking about the C&E Christians. I don't know, I think that they want to always be in charge of their lives and when they screw them up then they ask for help. Our Government officals are the perfect examples of that. They spend so much time listening to the morans, and they have taken Prayer out of Schools, and every other place in America , but remember when we were attacked on 9-11? All of those Senators, Congressmen, and Reps. were on the steps praying. I bet that was the first time that they had prayed in a long time. I would bet it was all for show also. Some People treat God like He is a Genie that is to be taken out of the bottle when they want something. Christians treat God as someone to be worshipped and Glorified. We are in the state of mind Thy will be done, but there are a lot of people out there that pray MY WILL BE DONE. It is all about a instant society, and a selfish society.

As Gigi stated, it's because they treat God as the Magic Genie and only want to think about God when they need something. In other words, that God is their servant. And those same people often get angry when God doesn't answer their prayers.

To put this into perspective (I'm not trying to say you do this, but just asking it in this way so you can put it into an analogy): Think about how it feels when someone only comes around to see you when they need something from you. Do you like to be used? That's the same way that God must feel when a person only prays when they are in trouble or wants something.

Instead, I think it's important to also develop that relationship with God where we are there for him as well. That means, praying not only for the things we need, but also thanking Him for the good things as well. It also means that as Christians, we learn from God how he wants us to live our lives so that we are well-pleasing to him.

Thanks for a great reminder that I need to pray, not only when I need something, but just because I love Him.

Because they Know God is the One with all the Power and think he can only help in times such as these.....that is when i Say Get Saved and he'll provide you with daily comfort knowing you can pray for everything not only in times like these.

Well can you think of a better reason, like everyone has turned you down and you go to the last/first resort. Hey God I want to be rich like that Microsoft guy or god send ME someone good to my life that will take care of me so I don't have to work. Thats Why!

In times of weakness or trouble, they're looking for hope.

While I don't condone this myself, it has been proven to be psychologically strengthening to perform some type of ritual as a means to clear your mind, and better perform or deal with the task at hand.

Most religious people who have faith always pray to their god ,because he is the only won who can grant them anything.This is in most religions, praying to god is the best way to get your thing.This not just talking rubbish but from experience.

I'm not sure that that is true. It is a convenient myth that Christians perpetuate. In my experience you either pray almost all the time or you never do.

Yes, this is the way of the world. That is why it is said, that adversity makes a man wise and God fearing. It is one of the way of God to allow sufferings to continue in world so that people will escape from becoming demons.
