Atkins was AWFUL and totally not needed - you will get bored with Atkins because you will feel so sick when eating rich meat and cheese all the time, you will lose weight because you will eat less, it's limited and just another fad. Salads will NOT fill you up properly, so again you wil not only be hungry all the time but be very bored with the food, therefore you'll end up pigging out!. If you are looking to reduce refined carbs the sensible way then try Low Gi diet. It's not a fad, it helps you make healthier decisions and uses fibre to feel you up more and take the edge off sweet cravings. I've had the odd pieces of chocolate, sweets and packet of crisps but it has stopped my craving for sweets (it's only been 9 days!). I'm only using it because l have PCOS and l feel a lot better. I've not got the stomach pain anymore and have a lot more energy. Eating All Bran for breakfast l'm still full 3 hours later. I'm only following the diet about 70% as l enjoy a drink and the odd oven chip, it's not a crash diet, l'm eating heaps!. But, it's teaching me to make wiser decisions so when l do lose weight l'm trained to keep it off. I pigged out on a cheesecake the other day - and l don't care, because l'm putting lentils in my stews and eating healthy nuts!. But if you are not looking for a specific diet, cut your calories and fat - what goes in must been burned out. So whether you have a mars bar for lunch (unheathy option) or low fat chicken mayo sandwhich, low fat crisps, banana and nut bar - it's the same amount of calories and fat - write what you eat down, make sure it's between 1200 - 1600 (depending on your size) and most importantly - exercise 3 - 5 times a week - you'll feel great!

Atkins is a low carb diet and it's not a healthy diet.

The first 3-4 days (The Induction Phase of the diet) are the hardest, because that’s when the body enters the state of Ketosis. In this period you get frustrated, irritated, nervous, low in energy, all you want is to sleep all day and not hear about anybody or anything. If you get vitamins supplements you can pas this phase more easier. I also took some Omega-3 fatty acid supplements. Before you start Atkins, I suggest you to make some blood checks and tell your doctor about the diet.

So, my answer is salad with fried meat. Don't take out of your menu any of the main nutrients.

I'd say just salads because Atkins sucks big time.
But you really have to eat a little bit of everything.
If you eat only salads, your body will go to starvation mode and you might actually gain weight instead of losing it.
Eat 5-6 small meals a day that include vegetables, fruit, poultry, fish, cereals, whole-wheat pasta and bread, legumes, soy, yogurt, ...
Variety and balance is the key.
And drimk 8 glasses of water a day.

A balanced diet and exercise is all it takes. Don't do the faddy diet and don't just eat salad.

You will need protein in your diet - and yes, you will need fat. You could really do with some meat (first class protein) but if you are a veggie, which I doubt, then lentils and pulses will help as a second class protein.

Simple rule with dieting. First of all, remember that muscle weighs heavier than fat - don't worry about the weight so much - worry about the size that you are and the size that you want to be! So, eat what you want within reason and just make sure that you exercise enough to burn the excess off.

It could be as simple as parking your car down the road rather that outside your house!

Neither, they're both bad for you because neither have all the nutrients you need for a healthy diet, if you want to lose weight then go on a HEALTHY diet by eating all the nutrients you need just in small portiond! And remember to exersize regulary and the weight will come off. Good Luck and remember you do need some fats in your diet.

Adkins. If you do just salads, you will be bored very quickly. And you will be HUNGRY. If you follow Adkins, you can eat eggs, cheese, meats, fish and vegatables, there is no need to be bored or hungry and the results are the same. YOU lose weight !!
