Constant tingling and sometimes painful in the nose, streaming and sneezing, sometimes itchy eyes:
would you call this sinusitis or allergy?

(I have been to an ENT specialist; I do have prescription and GP, but doctors are often very reluctant to 'diagnose').

I've just noticed over-enthusiasm of 's' and 'i' in the question...

'itis' means 'inflammation of' in your case of your sinuses. A doctor can't diagnose an allergy unless he does an allergy test. Ask for one, especially if the prescription does not help. If the prescription is for a anti-histemine then the doc thinks you have an allergy.

I had Sinusitis when i was 12 years old.

I was diagnosed because I was constantly getting cold, or at least what we though was colds. I would wake up every morning sneezing and had a runny nose. They performed a cat scan which showed my sinuses were full and also they performed allergy tests. It was found that I was allergic to a lot of things (too many to list) and I was in the hospital to have my sinuses cavity emptied.

As I see it sinusitis and allergies are linked as Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinuses which i think can be brought on because of allergies. I still have allergies but I don't suffer from sinusitis.

Sinusitis refers to inflammation of the sinuses. This is generally caused by a viral, bacterial, or fungal infection.

The sinuses are air-filled spaces in the skull (behind the forehead, cheeks, and eyes) that are lined with mucous membranes. Healthy sinuses are sterile (meaning that they contain no bacteria or other organisms) and open, allowing mucus to drain and air to circulate.

When inflamed, the sinuses become blocked with mucus and can become infected. Each year, over 30 million adults and children get sinusitis.

Sinusitis can be acute (lasting anywhere from 2 - 8 weeks) or chronic, with symptoms lingering much longer.

when i've had sinusitis, which is a couple of times, it was an infection in your sinuses, so you feel really poorly, headache, temperature, feeling like full sinuses, but not being able to clear them. the itchy eyes, streaming and sneezing sounds like an allergy. what's your prescription for. try taking antihistamines and trying to work out what you are allergic to. feel better.

An allergic reaction is characterised by itching, so probably yes. But I don't think this is allergy: your whole body should be itching, not just your eyes. I don't think this is sinusitis either, since you don't have any problems breathing (that you mentioned, anyway) but its more likely than allergy. I'm more inclined to think that it's a nerve problem...your olfactory and optic nerves (smelling and seeing) are relatively close together, so it could be something irritating those nerves.

Sinusitis literally means inflammation of the sinus from whatever cause. This may be infection, chemical irritation, reaction or allergy. It sounds like yours is allergic.

sinusitis means nflammation of the sinuses. but since you dun face any other probs like rashes or bloated face, i dun think its allergies. maybe you eyes n nose are sensetive to dust or cosmetics that u r using? jus an advice: observe your daily habit n see if anything u use or do can cause this reaction
