think the rule is 2 hours after you eat it should be within a normal range. Drinking alcohol can kill a diabetic. I had a friend that did not know she was diabetic, went out drinking graduation night and drank herself into a diabetic coma and was dead come monday. walk her around and burn off some of the carbs and alcohol. test her again.
By the way, if she is not drunk on 4 cups she should be fine. You gave her insulin, ive seen higher blood sugars than that, she should be ok. I would be cranky too if you kept waking me up at 230am.

501 can be life threatening anything over 400 can be though far higher readings are possible and the person survive however some cells die or are damaged because of the excessive blood glucose. And there is no guarantee that they will surgvive. You are probably through the crisis now. If her sugar ever gets that high again lots of water, exercise in moderation, and as you did an appropriate does of insulin can help but 400+ should mean a trip to the ER.
There are 2 issues here. First as has been said alcohol and diabetes do not mix well at all. Beer, wine, rum and coke, none of it is beneficial and each can mess with her blood sugar. Second, third etc reactions are generally worse than the first one so she is literally risking her life if she chooses to drink.
Second I'm very glad you were there with her taking care fo her but obviously between the beer and the blood sugar she was incapable of taking care of herself and looking out for her own best interests. It is really important that she learn what she can and can't should and shouldn't do to take care of heself and be the one in control of her blood sugar and health. Please urge her to see her doctor and get a referral for diabetes education, go to a self help group, do whatever she needs to do to learn to handle her life well and safely.
This is especially important of she ever becomes pregnant beause a diabetic has special risks in pregnancy and the baby's life and health could be at risk too from high blood sugar levels in the mom and from the damage to the mom's system from any pattern of running high.

4 cups is 4 too many. Diabetes and alcohol do not mix. Diabetes is nothing to fool with. People play games with their body, when we see how far we can go and get away with it. I had a friend once who ate and drank anything she wanted to and then would go and take her insulin shots, I mean she was playing with death and a few times she went into shock.
There is a new product out that is a liquid supplement and is sold here http://www.nupro.net/?1618 The Herbalist has removed almost all of the sugar in the fruits that are in the liquid. Many good testimonies of how it is helping Diabetics as well as other ailments. If you have any questions there is a toll free number on the site you can call. or you can contact me. I can give her a food regime if she would care to have one.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Her blood sugar mostly likely will return to normal in the next few hours. Be careful in the future with beer. Beer is very bad for diabetes, for several reasons. Beer is full of carbohydrates, which covert to sugar, which causes stress and glucose abnormalities in insulin dependant diabetics. Beer also, contains large amounts of alcohol, which is bad for the pancreas and slows its function. I would let her sleep, and recheck every 30 min., for the next 90 minutes to make sure there is no increase in her levels.

You probably need to call the local emergency room there in your hometown and they can guide you as to what to do next.
Alcohol will raise blood sugar. If you gave her the correct insulin dosage, alright. When a diabetic takes medication, they should be eating. I would truly seek medical help instead of yahoo answering help.
This is something that you need and EMS attendant to check out. You can call Ems to come to the house and assess her, and the only time that they charge a fee is when they take you to the hospital. If they do not have to take her to the hospitla, they will not charge her. They will assess the situation and tell you the options. You do not want her dead or in a coma.
****SEEK MEDICAL HELP***** Anytime that a blood sugar goes over 150, it is cause for concern. Please seek medical attention for your friend ASAP>>>>ASAP>>>>>ASAP>>>>

It seems to be coming down at a steady pace. You may want to slow down on the dosages so she doesn't crash after. Once she's within normal range, continue to keep a close eye on her sugar. When I've had days when my pump isn't working and I'm injecting insulin every hour or more, it is possible to give too much even though it is the correct dosage. If you continue to give at such a fast pace, she may keep coming down too far.

I agree with Kendell. I also know of a diabetic who drank to much, went into a diabetic coma and died. Alcohol is terrible for diabetics, especially those using insulin. For her health and safety, please encourage her to drink Diet Coke instead! Best wishes.

ok, first, read your other post. I cant really help you with diabetes. all i can say is to minimize risk, make sure she does not fall asleep. The alcohol she drank may cause her to vomit. she might choke on her own vomit. hopefully there are no signs vomiting. If she shows no signs of drunkness then let her sleep, but make sure she is on her sides. to handle your diabetic problem, call a hospital or 911 and consult with a specialist on what to do. explain your friends condition.
hopefully myself and others will be here for you.

your girlfriend needs to be especially careful when consuming alcohol, as alcohol is a sugar. It too will increase blood sugar levels. Sounds like it is coming down ok- but watch and check her sugar hourly
