I may be having that done soon and want to know what others experiences with the procedure and the outcome. Do they stop your heart during the procedure?

I work with a young woman that had it done, cause she suffered from SVT also. Went without a hitch! She's never had problems since.
They don't stop your heart. They stimulate different areas in your heart (they thread a catheter up your leg into your heart) and see if they can create the irregular beat. Then they know the area to 'ablate'. Then that area of the heart can no longer create the irregular beat. Sometimes it takes them awhile to find the area, but it's painless, slightly uncomfortable cause you have to lie on your back.

Hi, I have SVT also but I haven't done anything about it except get diagnosed, which is a relief as I no longer have to worry that I'm just going to drop dead from a heart attack like I've always feared. My heart doctor wrote me a script for betablockers however I am asthmatic and this drug constricts the bronchioles so I have chosen not to take it. My only other choice is to have the ablation. I am holding off just to see how I go with the SVT over the coming years as I am only 29. The SVT mostly plays up when I play basketball which is once a week, however I find the fitter I am the better it is and the less often it occurs. It used to happen a lot more when I didn't exercise at all and often for no reason at all.
Sorry i haven't answered your question, just relating some info. Best wishes if you go ahead with it.
