Are your blood glucose levels well controlled? It could be the start of diabetic neuropathy. It could also be a circulatory problem, as diabetics are prone to arteriosclerosis. You should go into the doc for a doppler check and some other tests to find out the cause of your numbness.

You must keep your blood glucose well controlled. Numbness and tingling are a sign of poor blood circulation in your feet due to diabetes. Since the nerves are not getting oxygen from the blood, they start dying.

Go to your doctor and get checked up. Also, ask you doctor about Gabapentin. It is a drug used to treat nerve problems caused by diabetes. It may help reduce the tingling pain.

How long have you been treating the diabetes? I have only known for about 5 months that I am diabetic. The numbness and tingling in my toes is getting better but I still experience it. My doctor seemed to think it would probably go away in my case. Talk to your doctor about it.

A neuro system problem or a circulatory type problem? I am not so much trying to "answer" you as I am also posing the question. I wonder what other Diabetics might say.

Gonna guess here and say it's diabetic neuropathy. Start taking care of your feet (watch for and take care of any cuts or sores) or you'll loose em!
