I was supposed to be given Advair for my asthma, but I didn't want to go on it because I didn't want to gain any weight. Does Proventil cause increased appetite? Does regular albuterol cause weight gain?

Albuterol will not cause you to gain weight. Also, Advair is an inhaled steroid, and the side effects of inhaled steroids are not nearly as bad as those of systemic steroids. I'd be much more concerned with not being able to breathe than the possibility of gaining a few pounds. Talk to your doc about the side effects of Advair.
When you can't breathe, nothing else really matters!

Advair Weight Gain

No, albuterol will not make you gain weight. Advair, though it is an inhaled steroid, never made me gain weight while I was on it. Prednisone, on the other hand, which the docs use to treat exacerbations, has the potential to make you gain a TON of weight, regardless to how you eat or exercise.

Take the ounce of prevention and go on the Advair if your doc recommended it. You'll be able to stay active, and not have the symptoms that can require the prednisone treatment later. *That* weight gain will be harder to take off than the original modification of your activity.

Albuterol (proventil) will not make you gain weight. It is a bronchodilator that will help open up your lungs. Some steroids like prednisone will make you gain weight but not Albuterol.

No, not really, albuterol is a Beta-agaonist which stimulates a specific part of the sympathetic nervous system to increase bronchodilation of your lungs, it also will have effects such as increasing your heart rate, it does not usually cause weight gain.

No, albuterol should not make you gain weight. It is not a steroid if that's what you're worried about.
