low blood pressure?

at the pharmacy, me and my friends took our blood pressure. my friends were normal. i was 75/50. Could this be true, or was it a mistake? I will be taking it again soon.....just wondering what it means if it's true....

Normal is 120/80. Those machines in the pharmacy just provide you with one measure of your blood pressure. ONE reading is essentially meaningless. They are more valid as well as more reliable when several measures are averaged over time.

Know that many factors can temporarily raise or lower blood pressure. Further, low blood pressure is typically not considered problematic unless accompanied by symptomology, like dizziness, passing out etc.

That is abnormally low. When taking your blood pressure, you have to make sure that you're sitting up right and breathing normally. You also may have gotten a messed up reading if you had thick clothing on. If that wasn't the case you should definitely check it out with your doctor. My only question would be what has your B.P. been like before?

BP readings are affected by circumference of the arm. Obese people may have spuriously high readings and thin people low readings. If you have almost same physique as of your friends, even then it is nothing to worry. If you are otherwise healthy, just forget your BP. BP on lower side is a good indication in an otherwise healthy person.

BP at 75/50 is too low, if it was correctly measured.

maybe you didn't put your arm in the sleeve/cuff correctly =) or you moved too much while it was taking the b/p..if your b/p was 75/50 you would feel really weak and light headed...
