The other day I made a batch of Snickerdoodle cookies from the 1981 edition of the Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book. They were getting a bit stale so my husband tryed to "refresh" a few by mircowaving them. The cookies went into the "nukker" and started to arc. We took the cookies out and restarted the "nukker", this time with now arcs. Put the cookies back in and arc-central. WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!

3 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1 c ove butter
2 c sugar
2 eggs
1/4 c milk
1 tsp vanilla

rolled in
3 tbsp sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon

This sometimes happens to my butter. i use "Land 'o' Lakes" which has that new stay fresh wrapper. I'm wondering if they are using silver or silver nitrates in the packaging. I know that silver arcs in a microwave, having tested silver trimed dishes.

Arcing happens when metal is placed in the microwave. Based on your recipes, it's not the cookies (unless you wrapped them in foil).

Look inside of your microwave and see where a small piece of metal is and remove it.
