It is cold cooked rice dressed with vinegar that is shaped into bite-sized pieces and topped with raw or cooked fish, or formed into a roll with fish, egg, or vegetables and wrapped in seaweed. It ain't all raw fish, as there are several types of cooked sushi. It is, though, one of the healthiest foods you could possiby eat and certainly one of the tastiest. Go with someone who knows their way around a sushi bar to experience one of life's truly delectables. Wish I could be your guide. I think you would really enjoy it.

Actually the raw fish type is called sushimi. Sushi is just seaweed, rice and veg.

Actually, it is not the raw fish everyone thinks that it is, but rather a particular type of rice that the fish is served with. If you go to a grocery store and look in the rice section, you can buy it there.

But sushi often contains it.
Its like saying sandwiches are meat as often you get chicken sandwiches
Sushi is a form of steramed rice with soaked in sweet vinegar that is often squeeze rolled in a seawees casing or package or just a lump of this rice with a filling such as prawn, vege etc.
Also can include sweet friend bean curd puches called inari.
All very healhty with condemints of soy sauce, a pink picked ginger and a horseradish like paste to be used sparingly called wasabe
