-- why doesn't that also work for the Invisible Pink Unicorn?
I think it would be cool -- and creepy -- to see gods pop into existence just because people choose to believe in them. You know, "clap your hands and Tinkerbell will live," that sort of thing.

@ lattynchick: Let me get this straight -- you expect me to be anxious about the condition of a soul which I don't believe I have, undergoing eternal torment in a hell that I also don't believe in. Which part of this is supposed to scare me into believing in god?

Well, go enjoy. Believe in whatever you want. You obviously do not know the power of faith and belief you poor thing. Its not an argument for the existence of God to begin with. Think about others when you make such statements...you are known by your words.

I don't think that faith in God is a valid argument for the existance of God.
I think that there is one God - and the nature of that God is Love - and It works through us. So - for me - the proof of God - is when I see a Mom caring for her children - or I see people of different backgrounds reaching out to help each other in a crisis - or I hear my sister's voice on the phone, telling me how much I mean to her. Those things are all God.
And - just for the record - it IS a little bit like the "clap your hands and Tinkerbell will live" stuff. If you choose to believe in God/Love - you will see It "Pop into existance" all the time.
Faith comes in when it's hard to understand why "bad things" happen. That's when I choose to focus on the positive and have faith that everything is as it should be - all the time - even if I can't see it that way all the time.
Oh - and I don't know anything about an invisible pink unicorn.
Namaste!

"might you're saying this could be a valid Argument For The existence Of God? there is not any valid argument for the existence of something imaginary. "inspite of the undeniable fact that I unquestionably have heard a exciting theory that i've got confidence has some credibility" I doubt that yet i'm going to keep going... "what's the 1st actual variety maximum might say a million inspite of the undeniable fact that it particularly is in certainty 0." 0 is an considerable theory in math inspite of the undeniable fact that it's not a variety for 0 in absolute words can on no account exist. "So in certainty no count the type you twist it there might've had to have been a real 0 in the commencing up and it would've ought to have expanded by way of a few thing to grant us our planet or perhaps universe." i can be certain why that worked for you ;) Please understand... there replaced into-is on no account not something. "for that reason which potential you may desire a countless source that leaves the scientific realm. What do you think of of this?" i think of you have been bamboozled with cool sounding words. ~

Faith alone does not cause something or someone to exist.
The existence of God is a matter of faith. Since God pre-dates humanity and has always existed, we are bound by faith to accept His existence.
Blessed are they that do not see, yet believe.
Imagine walking onto a golf course, being told the hole is over younder, down a great big hill, but you just cannot see it.
What do you do?
Walk away because there is no evidence for the hole being where it was stated to be, or hit the ball in the general direction and hope that you are on the correct line?
So it is with God. He manifests Himself unto those who believe, and, occasionally, lets unbelievers have it straight between the eyes with both barrels so to speak.
The second part of your question, in which you state it would be cool for us to create a personal god at the snap of a pair of fingers borders on blasphemy.
"....for God will not be mocked."

Faith is valid for God. How do we know that pink unicorns don't exist. Just because I haven't seen one doesn't mean it's not out there. You know there is scientist that search for mythical animals. Or what has been described in myth and scientist have in the 20th century found six of these so called animals. So do I know a pink unicorn don't exist.

ummm, many gods have 'existed' because of people believing in them. Pagan gods, Greek gods like Zeus, Hercules, Achiles, etc. Millions of people have had faith in hundreds of gods over the centuries and to them all, these gods truly existed. But we know now that they never existed. No god had performed miracles. Indians use to do rain dances to ask their gods for rain for the crops. Some times is would rain the next day and some times it didn't. We now know that you need rain clouds to make rain to appear.
But God does exist because there thousands of witnesses to the 10 different plagues in Egypt that God made happen; there were thousands of eye witnesses to the Red Sea parting. There were thousands of witnesses to Jesus' existence and His miracles. There were witnesses to His crucifixion, death, burial and empty tomb. There were witnesses to His resurrection besides the Apostles. There are reference/historical books to these occurence besides the Bible. And when you read about the lives of many of the saints' lives, you see more miracles that have occurred that have been witnessed and looked into over the centuries.
How do you explain some of the stigmatas, like Padre Pio?How do you explain the bodies that are incorrupted but their bodie have been dead and buried for decades and some for a century? How do explain the Fatima experiences and the hundreds of people that witnessed the dancing sun? There are many fake happenings out there and the Church has taken years to study each occurence. But there are many that are true miracles. Explain those without there being a God.

if faith without fact is used as a justification in an argument, then that argument cannot reject the possibility of the invisible pink unicorn. the only thing that really puzzles me is, if the unicorn is invisible how can it be pink, could it possibly be a stealthed, pigmentless pony with a hat on? i feel a schism coming on.

Do you really think that the whole universe was created by evolution? Take a look at yourself, do you believe that the human body; so perfect and complex is the works of a series of "accidents" or random evolution.
If you don't believe in God, I hope that you are right because if you die without having Him as a Saviour, you wouldn't be missing anything at all, but if you die without Him and it happens to be real, you will spend eternity regretting it in hell.

What you've just described is quite the opposite, faith in the theory of evolution.
One (of many) proofs of the lies of evolution is:
The Giraffe,
The valves(that regulate blood flow) in this animal's neck couldn't have possibly evolved. If they evolved, the giraffe never could have survived if the valves were one iota different than they are today. These valves prevent the giraffe from passing out when, as it is bent down eating, it hears a predator and when it stands up fast and runs from danger. Not to mention it's 2 foot long heart. How did this animal survive evolving if it wasn't created? Many other proofs are :
The Ocean Sponge and the Gecko . If you want details on that, I can post later.

Something is there if we think it's there.
What is creepy about that?
The universe works whether we believe in God or not.
It makes no difference whether we believe in pink unicorns or not. It makes a difference to the universe how we choose to live our beliefs.
