I have gone to 3 pharmacies and they say they no longer carry them, but they don't know why?

No. Many manufactures have changed the delivery method so that noCFC is used and thereby changed the "formula" making it a different medication.

No recall, just a shortage because of the change over from CFC inhalers to the HFA ones. CFCs are going to be completely outlawed in the U.S. by the end of 2008. Most of the manufacturors are already discontinuing the CFC inhalers. You might need a new prescription for the new HFA Albuterol inhaler, but that is all. The HFA inhalers work a little different then the CFC ones. The main difference being the HFAs having a lighter spray.

They no longer sell albuterol with CFC', They were supposed to stop in the 80's.

They now sell Albuterol HFA which is a different propellant.
I don't understand why they didn't call the Drs office for an OK to change your script

no, they just made newer ones that are smaller and more convenent. also they have a more powerful dose of medication in them. and you can still use your inhaler. just make sure you get the new ones when you run out. i have 2 inhalers still, adn my doctor told me that i could still use the older ones. but just make sure to get the new ones when i ran out. so bascily no there is no recall, your fine. =)

Not that I know of. Maybe the brandname changed.
