Because you have at least a single risk factor (high blood pressure) for heart disease, aspirin would be appropriate unless there are reasons NOT to take aspirin - like a history of GI bleeds or a recent hemorrhagic stroke.
The aspirin both inhibits platelet function (not really making the blood less viscous, rather preventing clotting so easily) and provides an anti-inflammatory action.
As mentioned a baby asprin (81mg) daily, is appropriate.
Good luck.

Aspirin is not really meant for high blood pressure. Aspirin as you know is a pain reliever but one of its effects is that it makes the blood not too viscous. Something to do with your platelets. So theoretically when blood is not too viscous, it flows through your blood vessels more smoothly however the mechanism involved in hypertension is multi-factorial so these factors have to be addressed. Aspirin has benefits for a patient with heart disease but for hypertension per se, probably not. Better consult your doctor.

Yes it thins the blood making it easier for the heart to pump. Any kind is OK so long as it is aspirin and not Tylenol.

Yes sometimes just thinning the blood just a little can lower you blood pressure. You usually want to take a 81mg dose once a day. Make sure you check with your doctor though in case you are on anyother type of blood thinner that would be contraindicated with your current medication.
