Are you a foster parent? Get with the authorities right away- this is a probable sex abuse case. This is not likely from childbirth- in most cases the baby would be born by c-section, and if the baby was infected at childbirth, you typically see the infection in the eyes or the mouth. Please! go to your nearest ER. I am a nurse and know what I am talking about!!

Well you have to thing. Genital Warts is a sexually transmitted disease. You may either want to think she got it from her mother (which is normal when the mother has it) or the child has been sexually abused by a carrier. This is what you need to find out. This is a big concern because that can scar a child for the rest of that person life if they were molested. This is a hard question to ask the parents (if they are avaible) but this has to be done for the sake of the child. Good luck honey and everything will be okay either way it goes. Whom ever you got her from will have the answers!

While of course there is the obvious way of having genital warts such as innappropriate sexual behaviour, there are other things that should also be considered.

There could have been an infection acquired at birth through the mothers birth canal.
Also there is a strain of wart often found on fingers. It is HPV2. It has been known to infect the genital area.
This could have been self-innoculation by the child or by an adult during a diaper change.

There are quite a few possibilities.

Mollusca are a very common cause of genital lumps in children of this age. These aren't usually sexually transmitted in kids, and are often mistaken for warts.

If you are concerned about the possibility of a sexually transmissible infection in in young child your first step is to see a doctor for an accurate diagnosis of the condition

She could have been abused. Have you had her treated? If not you need to get her to a doctor right away. HPV (genital warts) can cause cervical cancer. She needs to be seen so that they can be removed. Good luck....
