you HAVE to entertain your guests with things they like, not just you. its your wedding but they are coming to have a good time. you have to show them you are a good host. if your guests arent the finger sandwich type of people, then you cant expect them to want to do anything after their 3 bites. they wont have fun (you said it yourself, they dont know what to do). sorry, but you cant be so stubborn. you can still have cocktails, but maybe a full meal, or have some things planned that your guests will like maybe card games or something.

Cocktail parties are supposed to be entertaining, but everyone knows you have to mingle to create the entertainment part: It doesn't come to you. Otherwise it would be called dinner and a show. As long as you have put out food, drinks, provided a party atmosphere, you have taken as many steps as you can to ensure their good time. You can only hold their hand so far. The party can only be what they make of it after that.
You should enjoy your friends and socialize. Circulate evenly to talk every one up. MOst of the people will take your cue and do the same thing-that is what cocktail parties are for. If your aunts still want to pout on the couch, there's not a thing you can do. Let it be their problem since you've already done all you can.
Hopefully your aunts will realize that everyone is making an effort to socialize except them. Then they should figure out they can stop waiting to be entertained and make their own good time.

What your aunts are really saying is: "We would really like to be at home in front of the television!". When I think of a cocktail party, I think of good drink, interesting food, and great conversation. Add a mixture of good music and interesting guests and you have a success! Perhaps you can get a few of your friends together ahead of time to discuss how each of them might help you keep the conversation flowing and then to mingle with all of the guests, but especially paying attention to your aunts. Next time, tell your aunts that its a cocktail party and that they really do have an option to leave early or not come at all!

Incorporate games into the party to promote conversation, for instance, as each guest arrives, pin an actors name, an occupation, or something of that nature to the back of each guest. Make sure each guest is unaware of who they are. As each person sees the names on other people, they have to give hints, or ask questions of each other, to try and figure out the identities! (For example, pin Judy Garland on someone, they don't realize that's their character, and everyone else may be asking them things like, so how's it "over the rainbow" or "been to Oz lately?") Hopefully, by the time each guest guesses their character, they will all be talking and intermixing!! Good luck!!

Hi glow wings, wish your doing good at present ;-) We don’t have a ‘plan’ no, its variety of, whatever occurs if and while ithappens, you cant plan for that, I constantly stated if a fireplace broke out and cant be contained, we can open/wreck the window and soar out with the bed, no longer excellent, however it’s the one choice if we cant get out the door Anyway, I have my boyf, hes lovely diligent and smart and is aware of methods to manage those matters, hes no longer like different men and women, who could simply panic and no longer be ready to consider certainly, hed understand simply what to do and could maintain his head transparent Of path practise is quality, however im no longer certain what you imply via ‘with the whole lot been taking place’ or 'the quandary' ive no longer been mindful of something out of the traditional of path we dont understand what is going to occur subsequent, thats side of the 'pleasure' and of path the worry of existence, the unknown we shoudl simply get ready within the practical method that we're ready to, that is a elementary plan, when you consider that regardless of how good you propose, any factor can and generally will move fallacious and difference your plan, you must manage those matters as they occur

have you ever seen the tv show, "who's line is it anyway?" hosted by drew carey? if not watch it some night, it might help with ideas or go to the toy store and buy a trivia game, place the cards around the party area, yes even on the snack table. no one can resist picking one up and asking the person next to them the question. another game you can check on is called balderdash (even funnier game)
and lastly rent a karokee machine. evryone thinks they can sing, can you?

Cocktail lounge. play that game where you have to guess the movie titles without sound. All know the game I'm thinking of but I can't remember the name. It's on the tip of my tongue.
