Well I have been seriously thinking about having rhinoplasty. Due to the fact that I have a big nose. Although..I am one that thinks why should I care what everyone thinks, but it really hurts down inside that it's my nose thats always makes me feel down about myself. The truth is I don't know what will make me happy. God gave me this nose for a reason, but I have a choice to fix it or not. Also my boyfriend doesn't want me to change it cause he thinks it's fine the way it is and it makes me who I am, but still there is that feeling of doubt and depression. Im afried if I do it, I will regret it, but then again I think it will make a big improvement in my life. Just tell me what yall think I should do..I know this sounds like a 13 year old complaining about her looks when she has nothing to worry about, but im seriously thinking about doing it.

my mom had a similar situation, she doesnt really care what people think, and my dad thought she looked wonderful the way she was. It is always good to have people like that in your life.

The bottom line is that you need to decide for yourself. My mom loves her new nose...she actually got it years ago...just some minor adjustments...but she said it made her feel better about herself and less self conscious.

If you have determined that looking in the mirror and seeing your nose depresses you and causes you to lose self esteem, then go for it.

However jsut remember that your boyfriend loves you for you, and so do your friends, so the other people in the world jsut dont matter. If you do this, do this for yourself, not for anyone else. This way you are less likely to have regrets.

Also remember that this is still surgery so you are not going to look fabulous right after...even a few weeks after. No one online can tell you yes or no about doing this. like i said, my mom did this strictly for herself and she says she feels better about herself and less selfconsious. this is what you need to decide, is it really your descision or some outside influence?

Im 29 yrs old and had rhinoplasty. The thing you must understand about plastic surgery is that it has changed alot. I decided to have this surgery, because the bump on my nose actually hurt me and bothered me very much. I did some research and went to 2 surgeons to talk about what they would do. I was very clear that I didn't want a big difference or a different nose. I just wanted to fix the bump and shorten the tip. And thats what I had done. I am happy with the results, although unfortunatly i have to go in on Monday and have it fixed because the a small piece of cartiladge did not heal correctly. But I am still happy I went through with it, many can't tell I had anything done except for those that see me everyday. But its been a year and everyone has forgotten I even had anything done. You are 13, with until you are at least 18 yrs old and decide whats best for you. And do alot of research on surgeons in your area.

Best Wishes

when you said this sounds like a 13 year old complaining, did you mean you were 13? that makes a big difference in the answer to your question. cuz if you're 13, i think your face hasn't finished developing and you should definitely wait and see how you feel about it when you're older. Surgeons usually won't perform rhinoplasty until they are sure that person is old enough and has finished growing. also, a lot of teens really have insecurities about their looks that they eventually outgrow.

but if you are older and you mean that you just sound 13, i thinks it really all depends on how much your nose really affects you. "It is impossible to measure human suffering. A big nose may be unimportant to one individual; however, in another it can produce emotional discomfort." if it really affects you that much, there will come a time when you will not have to ask for answers from other people. what you should do is really find a reliable board certified plastic surgeon who will help you sort out your feelings. part of their job during consultation is to evaluate a patient's goals and expectations. plastic surgery can help many people, but there's no guarantee that it will make you happy.

he procedure to change the shape of the nose is called rhinoplasty. This surgery is mostly done to make your nose appear attractive, but sometimes it can be done to treat respiratory problem.

This method is similar to sculpting. The surgeon separates the skin from bone and cartilage. There are 2 ways of separating the skin. In the first process, the surgeon makes an incision within the nostrils and in the second one, an incision of 3-4 mm is made across the vertical narrow tissue that divides the nostrils. Though many prefer the first method, the cut made by the second is not visible to the naked eye.

Anything in your life that is a hindrance to the level of self confidence you can achieve should be eliminated, by whatever means possible.

If you REALLY want to get it done, get it done. But don't go overboard on it and end up looking like Micheal Jackson. Do your research, go to at least 3 doctors before choosing one, wait until your at least 16 (your nose is fully developed, as a girl, by then). Getting minimal changes done can make a huge effect on the overall apperance of your nose. You want one thats yours and that fits your own face, not some models out of a magazine.

Look, I thought the same thing also, but I am so glad I finally had it done. My only mistake is postponing the surgery. I wish I would of done it earlier! I had my surgery with Dr. Stone and I can't stop saying great things about him - all my friends have had surgeries with him since they have seen my results. There is a sample of his work on his website: http://ent.uci.edu/davidmstonemd.com/procedures.htm

Wait until you're 20 and then if you still feel the same way about your nose and have the money go for it.
