My sweet sixteen is almost here, but there's a lot of confusion about what type of food to serve. We're planning to serve mainly Indian food, because Im from India, but not all the guests are Indian. I was thinking of a more generalized menu, something consisting of Italian, but Im confused about what type of dishes to go with, like pasta or something

Tapas are the trendy answer! Tapas are appetizers of the more hearty style. Basically bite size versions of larger foods. They are a great thing to serve since you can affordably provide several different types of food. Finger Foods are always fun and casual.

The Food Network web site has several recipes and ideas for throwing parties with Tapas.

Happy Birthday!

Try an assorted plate of mini eggrolls, quesadillas, chicken fingers, cheese stix, etc. You know, like finger snack/lunch foods that everybody loves. Those mini sandwiches with the toothpicks in them are cute as well. Also, popcorn and chips with dip are always good.

That depends on what kind of party you are having. If it's casual and mostly people of your age it would be great to have lots of finger foods!
S'mores might be fun-graham crackers, large marshmallows, and chocolate.
Having lots of finger foods would make it easier to include many different types of foods including Indian, American, and even Chinese.
Happy 16th!
