I would love to hear from someone who has cystic fibrosis or has a close family member who has CF. For my report I need to know about your experiences with the disorder and how it affected you and your lifestyle. My teacher calls it a "case study". Any information would be extremely helpful! Thank You!

Well Anna my name is Amy, My cousin had cystic Fibrosis and we were best friends our whole childhood. We were insanely close for cousins. She died this past year in November 2 weeks after her wedding day and 3 days after her reception. The year before she had been fairly well for someone with this disease but after getting the flu she became very sick very fast. She developed phenomonia while she was on her honey moon and died shortly after in the intensive icu clinic where I live. Her life was short, only 20 years but she had many good times to follow her bad times and she loved life to the fullest even in her bad times she still stayed strong. She had a strong faith in God and knew that she would be with him when her life was over. My family has taken this insanly hard, we were all so close and her husband had moved to my state just to marry her and start a new life with her. She is missed terribly everyday and we will never forget what she went through each day just to survive.
I hope this helps you understand this disease and how it has an effect on the people that it encounters. Let me know how your report goes.

I nor any of my family has this. However I am a respiratory theapist who has taken care of patients with cystic fibrosis. IT is a horrible genetic disease which effects every aspect of their lifestyle. Most are sterile( unable to have children).
My favorite cystic patient that I spent hours taking care of a day for a fews years had a pet dog that was his "child". He spent most of his time "acting" as if everythign was okay but you could tell how much the disease was getting hime down. Most go through a rebellious stage where they refuse to take all the meds and take proper care of themselves.. I actually had to deal with him at the end of his stage. He was on a heart/lung transplant list for a really long time and at the end of his journey waiting on it I swear he had almost given up. (before i make you think this is a sad story let me tell you he is still alive and well today with a new set of lungs and a new heart).

he led a normal life in terms of had a girlfriend (very beautiful one I might add), and spent his time reading books.. the hardest part was all the sickness and the medicines they have to take and put up with.

I hope this helps you

Hi Anna,
I nor anyone in my family has it. I do know of a girl that had it and was lucky enough to get a lung/heart transplant. She recovered nicely, felt better. What she did next is shocking------
SHE STARTED SMOKING!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not kidding. Can you imagine if you knew where the lung and heart were donated from and the person who got it started smoking? Disgusting and very sad, huh?
