Having unprotected sex,yes you should worry about aids.Even though when you have sex with the people you've known a long time what about who they are having sex with and on and on.

Hi there,

Yes, you should be but hiv is not the only std out there that can kill you. Knowing people for a long time does not mean that they do not have stds: they may be carriers and not know it.

You are also assuming that because they "know" you they would tell you if there was something to be worried about. Not every person who has an std and especially hiv (the stigyma associated with hiv can make it very difficult for people to disclose) tells their partners about it. Some people make the assumption that if I don't ask they don't have because they would have said something then. The ONLY way you can protect yourself is to do it yourself: you must ensure that fresh condoms are used each and every time for intercourse. Some people will watch to make sure that a condom was infact put on and put on correctly; some people will put it on for their partner and there are some fun, playful creative ways to do that too!

It's good to hear that you are being tested every 6 months for hiv, I'll assume that you are being tested for all stds as well. HIV is not an easy virus to catch. Most studies show that for infection to occur it's through multiple exposures but remember, it only takes one exposure to get it. Unfortunately, having multiple sex partners and being engaged in risky or unsafe practices is like playing Russian Roulette: eventually the worse case scenario comes to pass.

Cheers.

If you have unprotected sex you should be more than scared about getting HIV..............you should be petrified. Even if you know the person you are having sex with how do you know their last partner wasn't HIV positive but was afraid to tell their partner? What about other STD's? It should scare the daylights out of you to have unprotected sex in this day and age.
