Make sure whichever route you take that you register With HM Revenue and Customs for Tax and Ni purposes within 3 months of starting to advertise and/or trade.

Helpline for the Newly Self Employed :- 0845 9154515 (deals with Newly Self Employed sole traders and partnerships )

New Employer Helpline (as a director of a Ltd Company you are actually classed as your own employee and therefore not self employed.) :-0845 60 70143

Call Companies house to register the Ltd Co name.

And you must register for VAT if you have an annual turnover of 61k or more. Call:- 0845 010 9000 for info. (Some businesses find it advantageous to register for VAT if they have a lower turnover than 61k per annum and the advisors will discuss that with you.)

If you are under 30 you may be eligible for a start-up grant from Business Gateway in your local area (check yellow pages.)

Good luck with the business!
