Hi,

aside your passport, citizens of some countries need a visa.
The best bet in checking if you need a visa is your country's Ministry for Foreign affairs and Thailand's Immigration authority:
http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php

It helps to have some cash and a credit card.

Few years ago everybody needed to pay a fee of 500 baht (~15 USD) when leaving the country, in the airport. From 2007 February, the fee is 700 (or maybe 800) baht, but most of the time it is included in the price of your return flight.

Good luck in your travels, it's a fantastic country.

If you are from the USA, all you need is your passport. You can stay for a period of 30 days, after which point you would need a visa.

Your passport will be enough. You can stay visa-free for 30 days.

Maybe your friend;s address, your bank ATM, etc..... for your stay.

add on to the airport tax ......... save money for it ?????? lol ...... its 500 baht ..... which comes out to about $15 US. if you have to "save" $15 .......... you cant afford to go in the first place.
