Herpes can be pretty natural and harmless? Unless it's the STD kind, you should go get tested. And yes, it's proper etiquette to tell your partner. There's no point in sharing your gentinals without anyone you're not willing to share significant information with. Sit them down, tell them the truth, work it out together.

herpies are hepies whether you call it a cold sore or something else. The herpes you have in your mouth is the very same herpes that many people have in the genitals. There is not a mouth kind and a genital kind like most people think. While symplex 1 perfers the mouth, it is very happy living in the genitals as well! This is why 30% of the general population and 60% of the college age population has type 1 genital herpes.

As to whether to tell your partner. This is under debate. Since it is so very common, many believe that it is ok to not tell. But are you willing to risk exposing someone else without letting them know? I am sure they would have rather made that choice. What makes it worse is that about 90% of those with the virus do not know it. Like the PP who said she shares her drink with her friend who has it, and she never caught it. Chances are very high she already does have it, but because she does not have symptoms she assumes she does not. What happens when she gives to someone else? Is it any less important to the person who catches it that she never got tested? It annoys me that so many people base their status of STD on symptoms, when so many of them are silent carriers. The only way to know is by actually getting tested.

You have herpes simplex 1. So does most of the population. It causes cold sores...aka fever blisters.

It can flair up in times of stress. Overexposure to the sun can cause one too.

If you have a cold sore, treat with Abreva. Don't kiss anyone. Avoid touching your lips and if you do, wash your hands immediately. Try not to lick your lips. Cold sores usually clear up within a week with treatment.

Abreva is over the counter...you don't need a prescription for it.

Cold sores and fever blisters are from herpes simplex 1 I think it is. They aren't an STD, even though your significant other can get them from kissing you. They are benign, I would get some medicine for it. Chapstick brand had a medicated balm for fever blisters and coldsores. And it has been the cheapest remedy I have seen, others about are $15.

If you are worried however, it wouldn't hurt to go get checked.

Yes it is a form of herpes.Tell your other because they are bound to know once you have an outbreak. It's not that big a deal.Go to your doctor andask for Acyclavir. As soon as you feel the tingle you start a 5 day cycle and the cold sore doesn't even form. These pills are fantastic.

yes it is herpes. yes you should tell them. alot of people freak out about it and think its really gross but really its technically just a cold sore. there are treatments out there for it and you shouldn't kiss during the outbreak but sometimes you gotta. my best friend has it and we share drinks all the time, I've never gotten it so some people just don't get it. but it would be nice of you to tell your partner.
